So I have this 6 or 7 years old Gerbre gator (haha, don't laugh), which was decently sharp when I first got it. But over the years it get duller and duller, and I could never get it back to sharp again, no matter how I sharpen it.

Then I found bladeforum, searched for sharpening method. After hours of reading, I went out and bought a $15 sharpening stone from home depot, and a $1 1500 grit wet sand paper. After half an hour or so freehand sharpening, it's back to hair shaving and paper slicing again. Screw those expensive sharpening systems, my $20 free hand system works just as well. :D

Here's a pic of the one I have, not in production anymore. You'll notice the tooth are chipped but I more or less got them back with a dremel and chainsaw sharpening stone.

Well done ... a lot of folks won't bother researching and READING.
They just want others to do the leg work.
You did a fine job in both aspects.
Again,.... well done ... !!!

Good job. There is an abundance of information to be had here, just waiting to be applied. Welcome to the forums.
P.S. There is a sharpening specific sub-forum if you have any further questions about that subject.
