Since Camillus is gone, this forum will be archived soon. Sorry guys

I'd like to know if there's a possibility of a collector's forum as well.

Me too.

There's a heck of a lot of Camillus stuff out there...

Including

Remington
Western
Becker

etc.

Another vote for a collector's forum. Failing that, at least a how-to-find-a-Becker-Brute forum :grumpy:

We'll never know why....

The reason we're living.
The reason we die.

But we gotta start living.
As each day goes by.

Tomorrow's another day.
We'll just get on by.

We can't stop trying.
Or be living a lie.

Wipe those tears now.
There's no need to cry.

Camilus has left us.
'Tis time for good bye.

Please do not innundate Spark and Cougar with email supplications and suggestions. I have already offered what I feel is a workable suggestion, allowing the Camillus collectors to join us in the Schrade Collectors Forum. Groveling is a moot point. Rudeness would be inexcusable. The owner of the forums has spoken after what has been, I am sure, a long period of deliberation. Any way it goes, I respect his decision and ask you to do likewise.

I personally fit Camillus quite nicely into the Imperial Schrade geneology. Albert Baer was eventual owner of Camillus, thence to his children and grandchildren. It was where he got his start in the cutlery business at age 16. Working for the Kastors he signed Babe Ruth as a celeb to endorse Camillus figural baseball bat knives. He owned major shares of the company when he left (October 1940) and bought Ulster from the Divine family (Jan. 15th, 1941), then purchased the rest of the Camillus stocks in 1963 upon the death of Alfred Kastor. So yes, there is a nexus.

Michael, you assume here, but do you speak from any evidence? Maybe Spark doesn't have a clue as to whether interest would be high for a Camillus collectors' forum.

Your suggestion is appreciated, but before we quash any discussion, it would be nice to see, at least from my perspective, if there is sufficient interest in a separate forum. Spark may not agree, but it never hurts to ask.

That said, I don't mind a new Schrade and Camillus Collector's forum, but at the very least, it would be nice if the "Camillus" name was added to that forum.

camillus will never be gone as long as i have my knife roll.

i might be new but i would like to thank Spark for these forums.

just i didn't even know of this forum til i was looking for more BK&T.

I would second Guyon's suggestion that, if the Camillus Forum is rolled into the Schrade Collectors Forum, then it should also be added to the name. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for any new BladeForums members to know that "Schrade Collectors Forum" includes Camillus threads.

I think it would be a false assumption to think that Spark is clueless of the site traffic volume and interest on this forum. Bandwidth is money. It has been by his good graces that the Schrade Manufacturer forum has been allowed to continue for these past three years as a non-sponsored collector forum, and the Camillus Manufacturer forum since February.

I did make mention in my suggestion that the Camillus name be included in the current Schrade Collectors forum header, worded at his discretion. Again, we shall see what we shall see. Remember gentlemen, as much as we like democratic principals, this site is owned and run by a business. It is not a democracy. While our opinions are considered, Spark has the last say.

::crycrycrycrycrycry:: oh NOOOOO ::crycrycrycrycrycry:: its ok it ok i swear i can be strong....

Your first post in this forum, Nate? Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. W&C is ---> over there.

Why has this thread become so confrontational????

Reading the thread from the initial post, it seems to have become confrontational when, after Codger 64 stated he'd come up with a solution - and then requested further that we let the matter rest - Guyon legitimately IMO questioned him about that.

In my view, rolling Camillus into the Schrade forum - and adding the Camillus name to that forum - is a great idea; but I hope the general concensus is that we can continue providing ideas into this forum until its official close.

Codger, thanks. I believe you've done a great job of putting some perspective on a possible solution.

I'd ike to see a Camillus forum continue in some form, whether it's this one or another that is identified as having am association with Camillus.
