I've got to hand it to this man. I'd like to know how he trained his pet. This would not happen with my cat. No way. Ever.

Never seen his cat before, also he seems to have lost his cool pack. That guy has some really good videos though.

I have seen a number of his videos . I like his simple, down to earth approach. No big deal, here it is demonstrations. He is quite a woodsman.

That's pretty cool. What a mellow cat. I had a cat, Little Bear, who I took car camping a few times with good results. She traveled well by both car and motorcycle and stayed close to me when camping. I didn't do it often because I worried more about dogs in nearby campsites, or unleashed on trails, than I did about Bear wandering off or doing crazy cat stuff.

That guy has some of the best vids on youtube. He is a very skilled outdoorsman.

Cool fire, and cat.

I have been teaching my cat to go on walks with me and he comes on command. Its certainly not like a dog as the cat still has that "Hey I am doing this for ME" mentality sometimes but still its fun to do. I keep ample treats for rewards and so far things are coming along nicely. As far as walks go its unerving when we go by a dog as many times the dogs just want to come after him and I get strange looks on the street. Its cool that he's mellow with walking though. I dont know if I would take him camping for predatory reasons but its neat to see someone else does.

The guy has his cat on a leash, if it is good advice for dogs then it applies to cats as well.

Interesting point, although I don't think leashing both dogs and cats is an apples to apples comparison. They have very different natures, which is why most towns have leash laws for dogs but not for cats. Was a meter reader about a million years ago and got chased by plenty of dogs and bit a few times, but the cats just ignored me or ran off.

I had a cat that would follow me when I walked the dogs. He would hide, then sneak from bush to bush as if he was trying to not be seen with me.
On several occasions that cat would disappear when I went camping. Then turn up a few hours after I got back, he was weird.

That's a great video!

Hiker and cat are clearly at ease with one another on the trip, and the cat's contentment at joining in is really nice to see.

My kitten (Tinkerbell) used to claw her way up onto my left shoulder, where she'd sit whilst I drove, it was fun, and she loved to go driving.

That is a great video! Being in the woods just doesn't have to be more complicated than that.

Added: I like the Dakota fire hole he makes - it hides the fire and limits smoke. It also directs the heat upward, which is good for cooking, not as good for providing warmth.
