This guy REALLY doesn't like the Charge!

Ummm... so which guy are you referring to? The threadstarter?

Well, upon reading the posts there, they make enough sense to me that those guys are putting up their observations on the tool in question. I for one have a Charge Ti, and do observe some of the same things they are talking about (i.e. Diamond file which grinds on the titanium handle scale). =P

The guy who started the thread is the owner of the site and is very well respected in the Swiss Army and multitool world . I would go as far as to say he is a good friend and he really does know what hes talking about .The charge does have some good points but after selling mine I have quickly forgotten what they were . I have to say its not a Leatherman that lives on my belt ;)

I don't think I've ever seen someone who didn't like the charge like this!

My Charge had none of the problems he cited. Fit and finish were excellent, if not quite up to Swisstool, and the file didn't rub against anything. All the implements opened smoothly and functioned well. I gave it up because the first time I used the PE blade, the lock failed. When, 2 weeks later, it happened again, I sent the Charge to Leatherman warranty for an adjustment, and they sent it back unfixed with a note that it was within specs.

Actually, I really liked the Charge, but don't trust it.

I have the 2004 Wave, and love it. However, I could never get into the Charge models. They were supposed to be upgraded Waves. Upgraded? Where? The titanium handles? The hooked serrated blade? The "better" steel on the clip blade? I never really saw a justification for the "upgraded" price. I'm not trying to trash the Charge models, or put the Wave over. I just never saw what all the hoopla was about. Heck, to be honest with you, I think ALL multis are over priced. They are tools, meant to be used and used hard. It's hard to WANT to use a tool that costs over a hundred dollars.
Just my 2 cents.

got rid of my charge also...now i carry a sak spirit,,,and love it,,,much better,,,

I think the charge is a good tool. never had any of those problems with mine. It is a lot better than my old wave tool. the inside tools lock on the charge, but they didn't on the old wave. I think different multitools are best for different people. Look at the rest of that thread. Lots of guys like the Charge too. I don't think you will ever find a multitool that everybody agrees is the best.

Just like pick-up trucks and nascar drivers :D

Good point.

SAK + pliers = multitool!

Not as portable as a Leatherman or SwissTool, of course, but for home or the glove box, just as effective (sometimes MORE), and a LOT cheaper.
