I spoke with a manager at work, asking if I could resharpen our kitchen knife. She almost bit my head off.

According to "the fat bastid" (I want to use other terms, but Spark woon't allow it):
Wiltshire knives have a titanium edge and "never need to be sharpened".

According to past conversations, Ti does not hold an edge...

can I get some sites to print info off for the manager?

OK, I'll give this a shot.

Why would you want to try to explain something to someone who obviously doesn't want to hear it? :p

Seriously, I tried searching on Google but I couldn't find anything on those knives except advertising. One site did mention the Titanium Edge, but without an explanation. I doubt they meant they actually use titanium on the edge, even as a coating. I think they just used the word because it conjures up modern, high-tech material.

But they aren't the only ones who claim their knives never need sharpening. And it's always a sort of scam. They assume the knives won't get really hard use, and the thin, mini-serrated, brittle blades will hold up long enough for the owners to lose the warrantee!

I'm just sorry I couldn't find a manuifacturer's website, to ask if they really use titanium -- ha!
