The "want to buy" forum is pretty quiet, and I think posts are archived after a while, to keep it tidied up. That way people are more likely to notice new posts.

Want to buy forum posts are only visible to Gold (or higher) members and the OP to discourage unpaid members offering sales. Trust me, that forum is VERY busy

He can place want ads and buy, but he will not be able to see others ads and sell. He can also buy from other exchange forums. It is selling that requires the Gold + membership.
