Hello, I'm looking for a assisted opener either without safety but 'safe' or with safety near thumb stud so I can quickly disengage and fire. (Note The Leek I have is the opposite of what I want, the safety is on the other end- how am I suppose to get there 1 handed?)

Under 4"

Thanks!

Kershaw Ram, ZT 0350, BM Nitrous Stryker.

Can't think of any more otoh. I'm a big fan of the 0350. The RAM is nice too.

RAM isn't assisted though. I reach the lock on my Leek with my pinky. A Kershaw Bump may suit you well. Look for the Al hanlde version or the Spec Bump. My favorite assisted opener is the Kershaw Blur after that is the Mini Cyclone. Niether one has a safety but I've never had a problem with one openeing without my doing so. The Cyclone has a switch to turn off the AO.

The Mini Mojo/Mojito has a nifty integrated safety. I never really got used to it, but I think that's because I'm left handed (or just clumsy).

I just disable the safeties on all of my knives that have them, and carry the knife in such a way that it can't open in my pocket. Just keep the blade up against your pocket seam and it's not a problem. This won't work if you're right handed and the knife is tip-down, though.

SOG Trident - safe even if safety is off due to design and the safety is fairly high anyway

You've just described a Kershaw Boa. The safety is a slider on the spine of the handle. If you look at the top pic, you can see it.

This is an older, discontinued model, the 1580MC. CPM 440V steel. You can see the slider safety right behind the flipper. It is SpeedSafe equipped.

The new ones are S30V DLC blades, black anodized 6061-T6 textured grips, 3 3/8" blade, 4 3/4" closed and 4.9 ounces. This knife is every bit as tough as a ZT.

If you get lucky, you can still find then in S60V. Check with the Pharmacy!

How about a Kershaw Blur? There's no safety, they fire VERY fast, and have one of the best thumbstuds out there, IMO. I EDC'd mine for about 2 years, and never had any safety issues. Pics below with a Military, Para, and a Busse SAR4 for size comparison.
