We have Windows - and it locks up when I try to respond to a thread on our forum.
It works well on Outlook Express & Yahoo.
Anyone else having this problem ? I have several virus protectors [super sensitive ] & use Spybot each morning.

Puzzling .

yes sometimes when i write a response to a thread and then hit submit , my windows locks up...

Same here, I've noted that it mostly does it when I "quote" someone elses post or copy and paste from another source. It's VERY annoying.

NO problems here. I use spybot, Norton, Adaware, Spywareblaster and more. But I also surf in Firefox.

Yes, I had it do that to me a couple of times on very long posts that took an hour to write. Wound up having to ctl-alt-del and cancel exploder (on my old pc I'd changed the icon to a pic of the uni-bomber)

Since it sounds like there may be something to this, I'm going to move this thread to the Service and Support forum where it will get the attention it evidently deserves.

I'll chime in here. It's happened to me also several times. Especially after quoting someone else and typing long, thought out responses to their points. It gets frustrating.

Yup, it's happened to me, too, though not lately. Typically occurs when I use the quote function.

AMEN! There's nothing like having spent 30 minutes on a post only to have it disappear into the ether. Interestingly even if you copy the post into your buffer before you hit submit it will not only lose the post but also clear your buffer. I've quit using the "quote" function. ;)

I need to speak up, too.

I've been trying to post a reply in a thread including a quote and a URL, for about 4 hours. Each time in that four hours, that I hit either "Submit" or 'Preview,' my IE6 window freezes up, and I eventually have to CTRL+ALT+DEL and End Task that window.

Finally, I was able to post, but only by removing the the typical QUOTE coding, and the URL link coding. I simply typed-out the quote, and put the URL in the post, without making it into a link. Without the usual QUOTE and URL coding in my reply, the post Submitted without any problem.

The first time IE6 froze while replying to that post, I lost my entire post, and I needed to type it over. After I typed it over, but before I clicked either "Submit" or 'Preview,' not wishing to lose my whole post, again, I copied my reply into a Notepad.exe file, and saved it to my computer, so that I had a safeguard against getting my reply swallowed.

This is the first day that I've had this problem at BladeForums. I've been quoting and using URLs like crazy since the new software was introduced, but, finally today, I've been having trouble with my replies submitting or previewing when I have an included quote (using the QUOTE function) or URL (as a link).

Any chance of going back to the old BladeForums software, that didn't have this same difficulty with IE6?

This won't fix the glitch in VBulletin software, but it will help you all surf VBulletin forums quicker and easier.

It won't take over your computer or anything. Just don't make it your default browser, unless you want it that way.
It keeps most spyware out, and popups too.

Download the Firefox browser.

Thanks Mike! I'm downloading the FireFox setup.exe right now.

I've struggled against this step because I'd rather not have to install new software, take-up more hard drive space, and have to learn the ins-and-outs of a new browser, just to deal with a bug in the VBulletin software. If VBulletin would repair the bug, that would be my preference. However, it seems that everyone needs to fight this bug for themselves, if VBulletin isn't going to make a patch that would repair their software.

Thanks again,
GeoThorn
