So after a wonderful morning visiting with Waynorth Friday at the GEC rendezvous, I was fortunate enough to be able to attend two more knife shows this weekend. It was bad enough that Charlie had to be so gracious as to sell me two Charlows that I consider to be the best I've ever seen, but he just HAD to go and show off some of his amazing barlow collection to me.
Well, to make a long story short, I've now officially started my own old barlow collection!
I picked up two old pre-1947 Schrades, and one Robeson, all with spearpoint main blades. Those three by themselves were enough to have me thrilled, but then I found this:
That puppy there seems like three knives rolled in to one: a barlow, an all metal knife, and a boy's knife. According to the seller, these were sold by Russel sometime in the fifties, but were most likely made by Wards (?). I'm sure I paid way too much for it, but I just couldn't put the thing down.
So anyway, thank you, Charlie, for all you've done for us knife nuts, for your hospitality, and for inspiring the latest branch of my collecting. The world needs more like you!
