On the list of forums it seems for last week I have been watching numbers there are always at least 5 times as many in here as other manufacturer forums.

In the 4 months that I have been a ESEE knife owner and lurked here I have watched the culture inside this manufacturer's forum. I attribute this high number ( 88 peeps at 2 PM EST) to dedicated and online moderators, the actual manufacturers replying to almost every post of value, a well thought out quality built product line with bullet proof guarantee, missionary retailers also online here supporting customers and passion for ESEE knives, and last but not least a group of lighthearted outdoor guys that like to go out and use knives.

This heartbeat and culture was a large part of focusing my education and entertainment on Bladeforums and paying to become a member.

Guys are being motivated to go out and do stuff in the outdoors with a knife. It reminds me of the scouting passion I first had as a kid to go out cut things down, burn them, build things and have a trusty no nonsense knife as your companion.

Guys new to knives are buying an Izula or ESEE knife based upon the pure enjoyment they see you all getting from your ESEE blades. I am sure this is translating to more retailers picking up this line at SHOT this week, eek I have another trade show myself next week!

This knife , (I only have an ESEE 3, but planning to buy a 4 or 5 soon), is one of the only ones I feel like thrashing, beating up, challenging, dulling it so I can resharpen it again. Sometimes I feel sorry for it, but it smiles back at me loving the challenge like my dog Cutter after 5 plunges into cold water.

What do you see driving this mini phenomenon?

Jeff and I have built our company on the philosophy that direct interaction with the end user/ customer is key to being successful. That is why we spend the time here to answer questions and to learn from our customers by listening to their pros and cons to build a better product. Mike

I was really thinking ESEE was knife speak for Viagra. I know how much you all like to fondle your knife.

Just last nite my wife said, "Honey is that a Junglas in your jeans, or are you just excited to see me?

Damm I should have bought some sheaths!@#$

If only other companies thought and acted this way.

Not just knife companies/manufacturers... ANY companies, no matter the industry!

You're going to fit in juuuust fine around here. :D

In all honesty, we joke around a lot, more lately than ever before it seems but if you want a group of people that buy gear to use it more than look at it, this is probably it. Jeff and Mike put on skills contests not to give people something for nothing, but to get people off their asses to get out there and build skills.

They've always stood behind the idea that their knives are just knives and they can't help you if you don't have the skills to help yourself.

It really hit home for me when Mike made the thread about the new version of the Pack Kit. He didn't come in and say "Okay, here's what we're doing, what do you think?" He came in with zero and said "What do YOU want to see in the new pack kit?" Not that they didn't already have ideas, but they wanted to know what we, the customers wanted.

I've learned more here in the last few months than I have all my life about skills that I can depend on.

The no BS attitude also helps.

What I like about this Forum other than alot of the obvious. It's nice to see guys, and GALS ;-) out using their knives. For giggles I took a look at the Busse Forum, and I know that they make incredible blades, but Holey Cow! I looked at the pics thread.......Do any of those guys actually use their Blades? They all looked like Mantle pieces, that were put up just so they could sit and look at them!

i'm new to ESEE as well and already have 4 of their knives. i think you pretty much summed it up well with everything stated in the OP. this forum is also the reason i became a paying member of BF.

It is indeed a great forum. I've fequented various places over the years and found myself growing tired of stagnant pools of gear hoarding theorists. While there are definitely gear hoarders here it is a group of individuals that grows and learns through experience rather than remaining firmly and ignorantly rooted in skeptic theoretical rhetoric.

God bless,
Adam

I just found this forum and I love it. Bladeforums, and more specifically, the ESEE forum, has rekindled my love of knives and the outdoors.

I used to go camping a lot and thanks to you guys, I have got two father-and-son backpacking trips scheduled in the next three months.

A very sincere thank you to the moderators here and everyone else who makes this such a great place to hang out.

Lots of helpful people without pretentious attitudes
Great products
Great warranty
Owners are involved with the forum and interact with members
Lots of people probably got Xmas gifts!

Bladeforums is a great resource for information and this sub forum is pretty cool too. I do wish other manufacturers were represented here though.

<----- Works for Pfizer- cant tell you how many Viagra jokes I hear

Bladeforums in general is a pretty good place, but the ESEE sub-forum is easily the best part of the whole site in my opinion.

I've been a part of many forums over the years, but this is without question the best. No pissing contests here for the most part and everyone just gets along and shares info and has good time.

. . . a group of lighthearted outdoor guys that like to go out and use knives.

I think OP hit the nail on the head -- every time I see someone posting something cool here, I want to go try it myself too.
And, of course, I'm gonna need a good knife. . . .
