Found this skin in the walk in closet. I've had it for a long time and it was explained to me as antique hippo skin. Its rather brittle but if I stabilize it I ought to be able to use it for inlays. Now its NOT a hard use material, even hardened, but its really nifty!

What yall say? Should I get some stabilizer and see what happens?

Love the big scar on the upper side on this piece, its going on a Walking Dead sheath! Warning, be warned, its not cheap stuff, I paid out the ----------- for it. :p Gator aint got squat on this stuff, talk about hard to replace! I've never seen hippo skin before.

ooh! Sjambok! Now that is a wicked tool. You could literally take a zombie apart with one of those.

I read the history of those back in the 90's when I was researching alternative impact weapons for a college paper, fascinating and disturbing at the same time. :p

I love the texture of this skin, I hope I can make something functional out of it, I'd hate to waste it. As far as I can remember its about 50 years old.

That will be very interesting to see what you come up with, Dwayne. ;)
