I'm watching End of Watch right now and the cop is like "This is my Spyderco Tactical Knife" and it's some assisted opening, non spydie hole piece of crap! Probably.
How dare they deface the good name of the almighty Spyderco!

Is it some weird Spydie that doesn't have a round hole? Or was I correct in thinking that it's not a Spydie....
He should have had a Spyderco Police....That would have been sick.

I saw a youtube video that showed this the other day. HATED that they not only called it a spyderco but a "tactical knife."

Well, some Spydies are tactical knives...like the Civilian, but I mean, how hard is it to get an actual Spydie...I mean c'mon...If I was Sal, I would make them take it out of the movie or ask for a cut or something haha4

EDIT: It has the same or similar shape as the Spyderco Captain....It has that recurved edge and then sort of a tanto-type thing going on. Maybe that's why they thought it was a Spydie, but still, it kind of pisses me off.

Perhaps you should see it as flattering that the movie makers know very little about knives yet know "Spyderco" knives (Whatever those are!) are good knives worth having in a loadout.

Exactly. My mother probably couldn't tell you a Ferrari from a Fiero but she knows WHAT a Ferrari is and what it means to be a Ferrari. All this shows is that the movie people don't know anything more about knives than what the top companies are.

The wife and I watched that las weekend. It ticked me off that they called it a spyderco as well. I said something to the wifey and she just rolled her eyes lol

Someone on the set of that ACTION movie should know that everyone in the knife community would be like "WTH" when they mis-label a knife like that.
It drives me nuts.

Someone famous once said all publicity is good publicity. I imagine the name drop doesn't hurt Spyderco, even if we all know the knife isn't a Spyderco.

Yeah nobody would make the mistake of calling a glock 9mm a revolver in a movie, which is basically what they did here. The difference between the S&W and a Spydie seems about the same as the difference between a glock and a revolver.

When he is talking about the knife he also shows a Glock 22 but calls it a Glock 19.

I noticed it too in the movie and cussed at the screen, still it was a very good movie IMO. The thing that gets to me a lot too is actors audibly 'cocking the hammer' of a Glock with their thumb. Reminds me of another quote 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story'.

Oh man...I see this in SOO many movies. Another bad habit I have is counting rounds fired to see if they're shooting more than the gun holds :D

LOL This probably happens in 90% of the movies ever made. For example, my wife is a nurse, and loves to rip medical scenes in movies and TV shows apart. My cousin is a lighting supervisor at Paramount and we've talked about this more than once. He says that the problem is that there are usually aspects or dialog that isn't run past the technical advisers for that scene. Or the director makes a last minute change, or the actor adlibs a line and they keep it in. Another thing that causes weird errors is the fact that almost all movies are filmed out of sequence. For example, scene 2 might be filled at the same time as scene 5 and 9. And the other scenes might not be filmed for months. This leads to weirdness like a guy wearing the uniform of a major in one scene, a captain in the second scene and back to a major in the next. Sometimes they find the mistake in post production, but decide to leave it rather than spending the money to re-shoot the entire scene. For the most part, these things are only noticed by folks who are familiar with the subject that the mistake was about. I usually just cringe when I see a mistake like that and keep watching
