Feast your eyes on this (if I can get it to work!). This is all a first for me...first time posting a pic, first stripped knife, first knife I polished up, and BTW, that would be a first gen Howling Rat next to its second generation brother!

Thanks for the positive comments folks. I really did not have any idea how this might turn out when I started, but I was gonna be damned if I was going to ruin a Howling Rat, so I have put a fair amount of time into this little project. Of course, please don't get the silly idea that I won't use a shiny knife. I think these babies were born to be used.

I wonder how that'd look blued, or with just the grind plunge blued. That SR101 needs some protection from the elements after all! :) :)
Sweet polishing job!!

JWBirch, that is an interesting question. I am trying to picture what that would look like. I think I saw a pic of a blade that someone had done something like that to. Has anybody else seen it too or does anyone have a pic or link? I'd love to see one.

It's toooooooo purty!!

I'd be afraid to take it outside, what with the
rain.gif
and all... :foot:

Steel wool and several more coats resulted in a nice, cloudy but very smooth finish.

So I thought I'd try to get the sunset over yonder clouds...
