picked up this HR off the exchange. it's significantly different from my other two HRs. seller confirmed it wasn't from the original production run as i guessed, but it feels different enough that i'm almost disappointed. the HR is one of my two favorites.
anyway, the major differences are the taper (see second pic. it has one fat tip with very little taper) and the height of the blade (nearly indistinguishable in the pic but it's between 1/16" and 1/8" shorter. lengthwise it's also 1/8" shorter. probably because of less height and length, the corrugations are closer to the edge (very close to the tip). it also has a wider sweep (probably because of the length and height issue again). measured the height of the handle as well and it's shorter as well, same as what's missing from the blade. in addition the COG is about 3/8" further back. about the only difference i like is the shape of the scales. the corners are more rounded making it more comfortable, but they weren't fitted very well and stick out past the tang on the bottom . . . .
anyone experience any major differences like this in the same model before?

here it is with the older gray one

I recognize the gray one because it use to be mine. That was also a older HR from the original run direct from Busse. Not quite sure why your black one looks like that. Perhaps oversharpening?

Oh yes, I have experianced this before, drives the sheath maker crazy, luckly it does not happen that often.

I've definitely seen it as well, that's what makes these semi-custom and not just straight production models...

It looks like someone got crazy wih the grinder when i was time to sharpen it at the factory.
