MEMORANDUM FOR ALL HQ OSC, FSC, AND MAC EMPLOYEES

SUBJECT: Our Conflict with Terrorism

1. "... I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foriegn and domestic..." When we began our relationship with the Department of Defense, all of us committed ourselves to that sacred obligation.

2. Supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States includes:

a. Supporting the Constitution's guarantee of freedom of religion.

b. Supporting the Constitution's guarantee of freedom of assembly.

c. Supporting the Constitution's presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

3. These precious Constitutional guarantees are anong the traits that most distinctly define us as freedom-loving Americans.

4. Recent news reports have included sporadic stories of vandalism and/or threats against mosques, Islamic community centers, Arab-American stores and homes. Such criminal foolishness is un-American. Such criminal senselessness belies the sacred oath to which we all committed ourselves. Such criminal stupidity dishonors the patriotic Muslims and other Arab-Americans who died in Tuesday's acts of terrorism! Such criminal luncacy will not be tolerated within the Operations Support Command, any of OSC's subordinated Commands, or any tenant Commands.

5. Our conflict is with terrorism. We have no arguemant with any religious or ethnic group. We will not use the terrorist's instruments of group hatred to prosecute our crusade against terrorism. We will not allow the terrorists to drag us down to their level. We will stand together as an American family.

6. If you become concerned about racial, ethnic, or religious epithets, or threats, or acts of violence, please raise these issues to the attention of your Chain-of Command, EO/EEO officer, or Chaplain. We will immediately address your concerns.

7. Request that all Commanders and directors distribute this message immediately to all pesonnel by email "broadcast" Do not delay the distribution of this message by posting it on a bulletin board!

I posted this for Mohd and others who might have fears of retaliation or reaction. I believe that very few Americans would fail to support it's attitude and actions.

There are, of course the rest, few that they may be. May they comdemn themselves.
 
Probably couldn't come at a better time. Now that people have had a little time to stew and think about things, maybe feeling frustrated. Keep energies directed at the real enemy.

That would have gone well in our local papers yesterday. Seems some of "the boys" let their frustrations loose,and shot up a Bowling Green grocery store, owned by a family of our recent Bosnian additions to the community. The wife works here, with mine, and the entire family works other jobs, in addition to working in the store. Local sentiment? Most feel that "the boys", after they serve their time, would be well advised to move to another county. No room for them here.
 
Same vermin that people any of various white supremacist groups and other hate mongers. I know because I've investigated them in years past.

Not a bit better than those enemies from abroad.
 
Not all pond scum floats. In this case, I believe they are the sludge at the bottom of our gene pool. Sheriff over that way can be very intense - says he has just the "filter" to keep them out of the main lines :D
 
The sad thing is that many people here don't know the difference between a Hindu a Moslim, let alone a Sikh, and are shouting out all kinds of crap that should be directed at the terrorists. Couple that with an extremely quiet Arab community that many of whom are not loudly denouncing this atrocity and distancing themselves from it. It will only get worse before it gets better I'm afraid. Many are finally looking inside to see what it is that they stand for, but they also need to know what it is that they would die for. Words of death and words of life are intricately woven together. We need to direct our rhetoric toward the terrorists and not the innocent. At the same time the innocent Arab population here needs to loudly denounce the terrorists and join in the actions against them. This will help reassure people. What happened to Japanese citizens during WWII does not need to be duplicated. There weren't any German interment camps or Italian ones. I hope we don't see any during this time.

A newsbyte (yesterday?) of the incident where an Amtrak train was stopped outside Providence, RI, showed local police escorting the "suspicious person" they had detained into a police garage. He was tall, turbanned, with a chest length beard, and a nice greysilk sportshirt. Now, I ain't been no place, for years and years, but even to my dim memory he was a Sikh. Either that, or they've taken to detaining Mormon Elders fresh out of the shower with their heads still wet and wrapped. Maybe we're learning, albeit slowly.

As Hank pointed out, to many, "different" or "furriner" is enough to loose the dogs. That said, it is little wonder that most Muslims don't want to make waves. Many of them have come from very oppressive atmospheres, and the Amtrak incident (clearly a mistake, but never explained) does nothing to show them we are different. When our bloodlust is up, there may not be much difference. A very wise man once said "Revenge is a dish better served when cold". We would do better to cool down, catch our turkey, and slice him up leisurely, to the enjoyment of all.:p

I would like to have done that over my grandmother's grave for the evil she foisted for decades on her family. Unfortunately she was cremated and her ashes dumped at sea. Though she claimed Christianity she was crazed, consumed by her hatreds. She lived in a hell of her own making, and I will leave judgement of her to God.

I say the above so if you are Muslim you will know that I do not only condemn as rabid dogs some who claim to follow Islam. One of my own family has earned the same condemnation and contempt. Whether she pays the debt is in God's hands.

And I will likewise leave judgement of those who claim to be Muslim but twist their Islam into the same consuming hatred to the hands of the same just Creator. And the same for Jews who dishonor their beliefs. Or of any who likewise dishonor the truths taught them by twisting love into hate.

On second thought, let me add this. Should I have reason to anticipate there were those in my town who would attempt to threaten or maltreat the Pakistani Muslim family who offered my wife and I relief by babysitting my autistic son, I would now be watching their house discretely at a distance with my Uzi locked and loaded.
 
Now there's poetic justice. An Israeli weapon protecting a Muslim family.

I live in rural Nevada. Small town America. Here we have a volunteer fire department.

And you can get away with treating good people badly. It happens every day.

But if word gets out what you've done, you'd best find a way to move elsewhere.
 
There's not a man here that I wouldn't be willing to fight beside, die beside, or live beside.

And there's a lot to be said for small town living. It's just that I would be an enigma in any small town in Oklahoma.:)
 
Nah, Yvsa, we'd just figure you were medium crazy, but weren't to much of a threat, and Barb was a good person , so we'd tolerate you for her sake and live and let live long as you didn't _____( whatever is your pet peeve ).

Personally I prefer my steaks medium rare, but that's me.
