This is probably a dumb question, but...

What is the difference between a 98 Commander and a regular Commander? I`ve been lurking here for a while and am considering buying a Commander for my first Emerson. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

98 (and some early 99-dated) Commanders feature thicker Ti liners (.068 vs. .050 I believe), thicker G10 scales, and water-cut blades and liners, as opposed to laser-cut on the newer Commanders. They also lack the secondary detent, making them (IMHO) smoother opening. I hope that helps...

Thanks for your help. Most of the knives I own are fixed blades, but I have been wanting an Emerson for a while.
