I really like this guy's work, Mr Damascus The knives are more on the artsy, whimsical type and definitely on collectors type....But it's like do I buy one and starve for a month? BUDK where are youuuuuuuuuu. You should be making replica knives like these. PS I meant the word replics sorry lol

Wow. Those look like he put a LOT of work into them, but...much of it is a bit, well, gaudy for my tastes, heh.

Dust off your fishing pole and find a local lake. Protein is the most expensive part of someone's diet and you could definitely cut your food budget through fishing. I've been trying to catch and eat my own fish as much as possible this summer. It also gives me an excuse to get my filet knife razor-sharp after each fish-cleaning!

I can't believe it, but I think those knives are just ugly. The blades alone make them flashy, but the handles and everything else make them a little obnoxiously gaudy. But, the same goes for anything jewel encrusted- I find it to be like saying "Hey, look at me! I'm super duper special!"

Sorry to sound rude, because it isn't like everybody has the same tastes, and the knives are... striking... but they went too far past embellished.

I own one from the maker before he went through that distributer.

They're top notch. But mine was not as pricey as the ones he makes now. All the materials he uses now are heavily upgraded.

Some of his knives I really like. Other ones I really don't. That's ok. It's like that with most makers out there.

Not my cup of tea, but glad you like them! De gustibus, I say.

Just a "heads up"....the knife replica industry is pretty frowned upon here. I believe there is a rule or "Sticky" thread explaining why in greater/
"official" detail...I can't seem to find it but will continue looking.

Yeah I admit some of Mr. Damascus stuff is too flashy- but he has many with neutral colors and a dash of crazy in them that I like. For instance I think the one Lx_Emergency bought is really cool looking. It's not too crazy but yet very original. Here are some of my favorites in his collection:

@Marcinek, lol yes I know replica industry is frowned upon....but wouldn't mind if they replicated some of this guy's stuff. Knife collecting for me is a hobby- and I like to look out for the unusual stuff all within a budget as I collect luxury handbags as well....Two expensive hobbies -sighs- So I wouldn't mind a bootleg cool looking knife.....but I could never do with replica handbag LOL.

No doubt Mr. Damascus would mind. As would the original maker of any "bootlegs." Probably not lol-ing about it.

^Ezzzay on me lol. They can do an "inspired by Mr. Damascus line- which he'd probably hate and think is very degrading-but at a much affordable price for us hobby collectors and not professional collectors. ;-) That' probably didn't make things any better but hey.

Great skill but way too flashy for me. I'd be embarrassed to use such a knife. Not my style at all but they look quite quality. Like most jewelry today, I just find it tacky.

Same thoughts here. Sometimes more is just more.

I'm pretty sure dessert is the most expensive part of my diet :D

@Marcinek Ohh! Thanks for that link, it'll save me from saying something stupid next time lol! My apologies for my bad choice of words previously. When I said "bootleg" I really meant inspired. For instance there are some jewelers out there who come up with "inspired Tiffany jewelry" but they add their own touch to it. I do not support any type of counterfeit products- just to be clear on that. lol

I can definitely understand the beauty and craftsmanship in these knives, yet they are not my style whatsoever. Too flashy.
