I took a good close picture because I want to know if anyone else has had to "tune" any of their knives and ended up with a protruding pivot screw. I just received this digi P2 a few days ago and upon my routine check of the knife and repositioning of the clip I noticed yet another loose pivot screw. I proceeded to tighten it down and find the "sweet spot" because the other side was good and tight.

When I have this knife tuned right, the pivot screw pokes out a little and isn't totally tight, which is another thing I'm not a fan of, but it seems like there's enough resistance to hold it in place for a while. I had this same issue with my DLC Para 2. I suppose it's the luck of the draw but my first two Para 2's have perfectly tightened pivot screws on both sides and the blades swing with almost no resistance.

I'm one of those freaks that allows little things like this to sit in the back of my mind and fester. Has anyone else had a pivot screw stick out like this and does anyone have any tips?

Mine does the same thing but I love this knife so much that I dont mind. I'm actually considering buying another but that might be alittle sick.

use some RED loctite on the first two or so threads. Normally I recommend blue loctite on the entire knife, but if it doesn't go down all the way some of the blue may bleed into the pivot area. Putting red on half or less of the bottom of the screw may help with it coming out after it's tuned. Plus, with that small amount of red, it shouldn't be an issue getting it off. Now, if you do the entire screw, good luck getting it out lol. I use that stuff on truck bolts.

All the screws and pivot pins on my new moonglow Manix 2 are perfectly flush.

i had this problem on one of my para2s.
i tightened it down as much as i could while still being able to move the blade.
after about a week of carrying it, i tightened it down the rest of the way.
it now sits flush with the scales and the blade is very smooth.:D

I'd say that all of my G-10 Spyderco screws and pivot screws are flush as well besides the last two P2's in question.

It doesn't bother me too much because the screw isn't going anywhere. I just wish they were like the first two P2's I got: pivot screws as tight as can be and the blades swing like the Manix 2's.

My Para2 pivot screws are good to go! My new digi-camo is the best out of the box thus far.

Make sure you use loc-tite. Every screw comes that way from the factory. I cleaned off the bushing on mine and used it on all the screws. And they are flush. Zero blade play ... and the blade falls free when I disengage the lock.
What you have there would bother me. Your either having issues with adjusting your knife.. Or there really is a problem. And use lock tite. I have the blue, but thats just my preference. There is not as much back pressure pushing on the pivot screws, compared to a standard pivot, so they wont stay very well without it.
You should be able to get the screws flush. Take them both back out. And screw them in evenly. There is only so much you can do without taking the whole knife apart.
Good luck. Sorry for the ramble...

I've also had some luck with backing out one side and screwing in the other side until I had a good balance. BAck and forth until it seemed as right as possible. Granted, that good balance on both Para2's I had/have is fleeting though.

Oddly enough, there is plenty of resistance in the position it's in. That's actually the "sweet spot" and I marked a tiny little hash with a razor at the top center of the screw just big enough so I can watch it to see if it moves. So far it hasn't and I've been playing with it a bunch. The picture does make it look a little bit worse than it feels with my thumb. I'm gonna keep my eye on it for a while and if it becomes an issue, I'll deal with it then. Thanks for the suggestions, btw. I'll keep them in mind.

I must have got lucky because I've taken down my Para2 twice to lube and clean it and my pivot sits flush.

Try disassembling it and reassembling it, make sure everything seats properly. I fit everything together loosely and I tightened the the handle screws down first. Then the pivot last.

I'm not too worried about it right now. I just wanted to see if anyone else had a screw sticking up like that. It really isn't sticking up quite as bad as it might look in this picture and that exactly why it bother me, I can see it. When I rub my thumb on it, it does feel like it's sticking out too bad.

My first Para 2 was the carbon fiber one and both pivot screws and all the handle screws are perfectly tight and the blade swings about as smooth as a Manix 2 with no blade play. It's a dream of a knife. My second, regular Para 2 is perfect like that too. It's been these last two that have had pivot mishaps. Oh well, thanks everyone.

How about tightening this side until it's flushed, and loosen the other side of the screw?
