Mark and I had done some horse trading on Saw Blades, Etc.
I got them today and the two blades (Concrete) are huge 36", Prodiamond blades.

I decided to call the company and see what steel was in the body. I talked to the head of the company (Nice fellow)

I got the number off the website and noticed that the blades cost thousands of dollars.......anyway

He said it was 4140. I was a little disappointed because it doesn't make a very good knife blade. He asked what condition they were in and I described them.

He asked if he could buy them back for $300.00 each.

I told him ...NO but if he paid shipping, I would sell them to him for $75.00 each or 20 feet of 5160 or 01 or 1095.

He said it was easier to send me a check for 150.00 and let me get my own steel. SO......I'm boxing them now and he's having UPS pick them up next week.

Who has good deals on the KING OF STEEL THIS WEEK! :D

I can buy and have shipped, 20 feet of 1/4"X2" 5160 for 75.00. Greedy people irritate me!

Depending on what you traded for em you got yourself a pretty good deal it looks like :D Greedy people suck! I have to agree with you about that.

I'm going to check the blades that the guy gave me.I think they are the same brand.I got four about 30" and five about 24".I was told that they were low/medium carbon too.Maybe damascus?

Well...that proves my point Mark. You weren't greedy and shared. I will get plenty of the King of steel and you should be able to get $300.00 each.

Greed doesn't pay but fairness does! ;)

I'll get these to him next week and let him know that there are more at the source. Are these in about the same shape?

He was concerned about rust but still wanted the rustier one.

Don Don Don

I don't think it would be greedy to take him up on it at all
he know what they are worth and they could very well be worth more than that
he'll rebuild them and make an extra $150.00 on them he laid it out on the table.

I would have split it with Mark :D :D

the band saw blade steel I sell runs about $700.00 each when new.. :)

If you see the city workers doing some road cutting. Just kindly ask the guys if you can have the blades when they are done. Every afternoon on my way home from work there would be one or two laying upside a telephone pole for me.I had about ten of these at one time :) whoda thunkit

Yep...pulled it apart this morning. There are 4 parts to the safety. Three are missing. :D

It was jammed because someone thought the elevator studs were pins and drove one in. That caused the left elevator rail to spring out and jammed the bolt.

I'll probably order the safety parts Monday. In other words, it is very fixable although I've never seen a gun that wasn't. There were a few I didn't want to fix...like Remington 1100's. What a POS...(Pardon me if there any 1100 lovers out there :footinmou )

Anyway....thanks, What do you think of the surfacing plates? OH....might want to put a little baby oil on the Elephant Ivory. That's the last of the pre-ban stuff. I had someone try to sell me some newer ivory at a great price, $35.99 a pound, but it's just not worth it.

Don your sense of what's right made my day. Thank you.

Didn't I hear a couple of years ago that the ivory ban was lifted? What's the story, anyone know?

Didn't I hear a couple of years ago that the ivory ban was lifted

I must have missed it if it was Dave. Not to sound like a tree hugger though, as much as I like working with it and as beautiful as it is, it should be banned. The one exception would be on legally harvested ivory with paperwork. This knocks hell out of the black market, opens up hunting to Sportsmen, allows the governments to control the size of the herds while deriving enough income to properly manage the game.

Market hunters always Fu$k things up.

Hey Don the surfacing plates are HEAVY. I wonder what steel they are. I sure like the way the edges look. All narly and forged looking. If I didnt know better I would swear they are layered steel.

The ivory would slip right past me if it was laying om the ground. Looks like a piece of wood. I'll make something out of it. Maybe handle slabs in a sectional design.

Thanks to the Missus for transporting :)

Into the Woods! Lucky man, we don't even have woods here...

I think the deal was they were running out of places to store all the ivory from dead and culled animals. But since I haven't heard anything more about it I really wonder if it came to pass.

Good luck today Don.
