This may not be the right place to put this but I'm going to do it any way. I'd like to know how to get in the I would like to know how to start a business
in knife making maybe this is not the right place to put it in but a lot of people in shop talk would like to know how to start there own business in knife making. Will the government will fund you and if so how do you go about doing this? Or do you have to do it yourself I'd like to know because I love making knives and so do most people how read this page so if you have any info please tell me thanks.

Well for what my .02 cents are worth..
The Gov. MAY give you a loan or grant to get you started BUT they may OSHA/Insurace you to death to guarantee thier investment.
My shop is a DEFINITE "NO OSHA ZONE"!!!HA!
Hell they would probably arrest me if they saw how things work in my shop!!:-) I started making knives with around $1000, started with a drill press and a Wilton Square Wheel Grinder with one speed TOO FAST!
Anytime the Gov. wants to "Help" I feel like grabbing my AR..LOL..
Save your money and do it yourself it will mean more to you knowing you built your business from the ground up..

Your first step in getting government help would be to contact the Small Business Administration. They have various programs to help small businesses and you should investigate these.

But be warned... I make my living doing technology research funded by government grants and I can assure you that you will be doing lots of paperwork before you get a dime.
 
I would bet the chances of getting this PC government to give a loan for making weapons would be about the same chance I'd have of catching lighting in a five gallon bucket without getting.......

MikeS, the US Department of Defense gives billions for the development of new weapons. Maybe propose research on a laser guided throwing knife?
