So I was browsing the internet, and came across numerous articles and websites. These articles and websites, talk about the "reason" young people carry knives, and what they use them for. To me, they seem to be very misinformed about the true reason most people carry knives and they give a lot of bad press to those of us who carry knives with good intentions.

I think it's people, and groups, like these that contribute to the large amount of "sheeple" and misinformation, that goes around the non-knife carrying community, and honestly, it kind of frustrated me.

Here are a handful of articles and websites which I found (though I'm sure there are 1000's more).

I would love to get the opinion of anyone who reads this post, and please, speak you mind whether you agree with the articles or not.

NOTE: I realize that most anti-knife articles are from the UK, or other European regions. However, that doesn't mean that they don't influence people from other countries. Thus creating the more and more common, "Sheeple" who roam the streets causing grief for us harmless knife carriers.

Haha those were some ridiculous reasons, let it be known that the only reason I carry a knife is because of peer pressure, good thing sheeples are doing my thinking for me. All sarcasm aside its pretty obvious that these are reasons that apply to criminals, not the kind of people found here on bladeforums or the whole knife community. Any rational thinking person would realise that, but unfortunately it seems rational thought isnt very common anymore. Thanks for the hilarious read:D

Exactly my point. These are not the reasons most people carry knives, but these articles sure make it seem that way.

Yeah, thats just the way society thinks today, which is completely idiotic but something we have to live with. Its hard to sway somebody in the right direction when they have convinced themselves of lies.

I carry knives because I often have the need to cut things. Some people carry knives to feel like a badass or intimidate or even actually carve people up. Knives are basic tools, but some of those fools are the real "tools" and they give us all a bad name. The people who wrote those articles are simply scared and closed minded. They just can't see past their own little bubble of fear and paranoia. Some people are scared of tight spaces, some are scared of spiders, and some are scared of knives. Doesn't make much sense to be scared of inanimate objects, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Hey, as long as I'm carrying legally the sheeple can eat a sack o' weens.

This comes up periodically. I don't think we need to rehash it here. It just stirs up bitterness, and too often, it stirs up animosity against societies or people who don't think the way we do.

We would be better off talking about the positive aspects of knives, or the positive measures groups like KnifeRights take to improve social awareness of knives' usefulness.
