Some guy in Europe did break a Swamp Rat knife yaars ago. He was drunk, and beat on for hours with a huge pipe wrench. It is pretty clear that Bussekin blades are essentially unbreakeable under any but the most contrived conditions. Of course, that is exactly how they are designed and built to be.
 
The one thing I take from this thread.... DO NOT ANNOY DAVE BROWN OR HE MAY SNAP YOU IN TWO WITH HIS BARE HANDS...!!!!!!!! ;) ;)
 
It is a good or bad sign of SR101 steel & what would you get when you hit at a 5160 blade like that ?
how to Decode the wounds on the spine?
 
I don't know the wood type, something very common from the garden but drying for many years, even straight logs were difficult to split
I wanted to really know if it can break, like we sometimes can read on threads every 6 months
My result is it's impossible without wanting it to break, and when i see some "unused" blades broken, i will know what happened
My two hands get wounded and even if i wanted to, i couldn't have broken it with the knife in one hand.
I really appreciate to see sr101 rolled and didn't chip, you cannot see it but it even did some sparks, so you can use it like a firesteel ;)
 
Did you try cutting the wood with a hatchet or ax.....curious on how hard that wood really was since the 711 did not want to budge during the beating (proud knife).
