This is why I like stainless

This was how my manix looked when I pulled it out of my pocket after pounding posts for a few hours. That's beaded up sweat.

My PM2 s30v is in my pocket while installing windows all day in the Arizona monsoon season, not a trace of anything.

I'm afraid to look at my esee3, it's been on car duty for months(since my pm2 came)

My main EDC is also the Manix s110v and sweat, water, food and blood from gophers lizards and me have been on the blade and it's still good and shiny minus scratches. Very stainless steel

Strange as it sounds some people's sweat is more corrosive than others. The most trouble I've had with knives is when I don't clean them off well after use, whether stainless or non-stainless. I occasionally cut a sandwich or whatever with my knives and maybe don't have a chance to clean them off until later. I've noticed small pits even on a 154CM blade.

Most knives passivate (patina) even if you can't see a color change. I have worn a few different knives under fire turnout gear. They rust easily initially then it slows way down, depending on the steel you may only see the occasional rust spot in nooks and crannies. Most the stainless ones have problems under the handle by the pivot or in the liner area. I avoid carbon steel in fire turnouts, it tends to rust much more consistently, but after it patinas it does rust a lot less.

You should get an H1 Atlantic salt. That won't have this problem. Of course , edge retention is less ( about Aus 6 level)

I carry my s30v Military all day delivering mail. It still looks brand new. My Leatherman doesn't last 2 days if I don't give it some clp love

Other than H-1 which we all know is pretty much the King in the anti-corrosion category I've had my best luck with VG-10 blade steel keeping it's glossy, original factory condition without much preventative maintenance at all.

I've also had pretty decent luck with the older AUS-8 blade steel and use the hell out of a couple of my AUS-8 Spyders in the kitchen in very harsh conditions but yet I've had no problems maintaining AUS-8.

Like I mentioned in another thread when I do use blades with tool steel or blades that don't have enough chromium to qualify as stainless per se I use FLITZ's metal wax and I've had excellent luck with it. I've also used Sentry Solution's "TUF CLOTH" for corrosion prevention with great results as well.
