Just received the BK16, I am pretty excited about it. Cannot wait to get out there and use it. I plan on using it for a bit prior to stripping and etching it. I want to get to know the knife and the coating's reaction to some situations before I go and make a big change. Its like when I serve someone a steak, if they salt the crap out of it prior to tasting, I get a little upset. haha

The BK2 is new as well, however that will be shipped out to a buddy for a trip overseas. I am planning on starting things off with paracord and some basic edge convexing. If anyone who has served has any recommended carry method over there or other necessary mods I would be happy to hear them/see them here. The sheath definitely leaves a little to be desired, however this only pertains to the belt attachment portion. I will have to purchase yet another BK2 and hopefully hold onto that one.

Thanks all.

I use photobucket for my pics. I'm not sure if Dropbox allows you to tag photos like that.

Personally I think the newer coating is pretty awesome... first off its protection so it serves a purpose, the newer coating wont "shed" while cutting food, and it wears very well leaving a smooth surface reducing drag as time goes on. Another thing that I do not think has been mentioned is that the coating adds traction should you need to choke way up on the blade. IE basically holding the knife blade in your fingers so that is pretty neat.

Needless to say the old coating I stripped off cause it just wasnt all that great and was so beat up it stopped serving a purpose... but I still am tempted to strip my newer coated Beckers just to make them "pretty." I so want to do a mod with my 15 making it look more like an older trade knife, but my wife continues to tell me she likes the coating and that I should let it wear itself... I am glad she understands and its good to have a support system! :D
