take a look on multiple retail sites... production wharncliffs for sale at 1.2K+
that just makes me angry. people participating in lotterys, wether it'd be on the forums or on knife shows, without any interest in the knife, but with the sole purpose of reselling it at 3 times the original prices ... they take the opportunity away from people who are legitimately interested in a certain knife, in this case the production wharncliff.

I here ya. I saw at least 3 of the lottery knives up for sale the same day they arrived. Hopefully there will be a boat load of the warnies in the near future because that is the one and only knife I want. (except for the 3" xm and the 24):)

i don't have a problem who obtain a knife via lottery and selling it off at market; it's fair and it's market...it's the people who have legitimate status to buy them direct multiple times strictly to sell them, those people i got a big problem with..don't like those who game the hinderer policy for personal profit.

i personally dont see the diff. people who can do it , will do it. its a little frustrating but if people are willing to pay it then thats that, if something is limited it goes up in price. to the OP,be mad that they are not more available not at the people who operate within the market thats been created.

LUKE-

Well speaking as a person who can buy them from Hinderer I think that it is an abuse of the system to "flip" just to buy it with the intention of selling it and not ever using it. That said, I had an XM-18 that I was trying to sell, BUT, I was doing it to upgrade to a 24. I didn't end up selling it, I sold some other knives and bought the 24 that I wanted. I really had to soul search to decide if it was an abuse to sell it at a profit. I "justified" it to myself by knowing I was putting the money back into Hinderer. BTW, I bought my 24 at retail even though I can buy from Hinderer. So to the OP, while I agree with you primarily, I would say, if they flip the knife for something else Hinderer I think it might be ok.

I also have a problem with those who won the lottery and sold their knives the next day for double the cost (or more). But I don't know how it can be prevented.

If it were me, I'd limit lottery "tickets" to gold memberships and above, people who are financially invested in this community.

There should also be a minimum post count in the Hinderer forum to participate. It seems like people came out of the woodwork to participate in the last one.

Agreed! I lost count of the number of people with single-digit BF posts, not to mention posts in this forum.

I had just signed up at another forum prior to the lottery and while I was disappointed that I couldn't participate I was also happy to see something in place to attempt to steer the knives toward aficionados vs flippers (although flipping still occurred).

You know, I think this would be my first part in this section of the forum. I may not contribute much (only post when it is beneficial, don't have a paid membership to BF), but I have read up a bit on the Rick H. Knives from what you guys post. But, rest assured if I entered a lottery giveaway you can bet this knife is either staying with me (love the wharncliffe blade!) or I would resell to someone I personally knew (that would not resell for a profit) for the same price I bought it at.

I'm not trying to start a fight here...but am I the only one that won in the lottery and still has the knife?

Some people had legitimate reasons for unloading their knife, albeit at an insane profit. The rules on the other site were a little better, but not a lot. I entered there as well. I believe the RHK Crew runs their system just fine, abuse happens and will continue to happen. (Unfortunate as it may be) I have also heard from people that swore when they received the knife, they wouldn't part with it, only to part with it anyways. Some folks love the knife until they own the knife and only then they discover its just not for them. So they make a profit and buy a knife more befitting their style. Honestly, who are we to judge?

Trying to enjoy some of my Sons football game.
Hope everybody that needed to vent got it out.
