This is on an older benchmade AFO... should the butterfly say "Balisong" on it? None of the pics i can find online say that

I got this in a trade so i'd like to know for sure if it's a fake

Im no expert by any means but I have only seen that logo on actual balisong knives. I never saw that logo on anything else, it just doesnt make any sense to put it on anything but a balisong. Also the lettering looks to be to small

I have seen that logo before. On really old school bemchmades. Like mid 90's

this one is very old. Not sure HOW old, but it's old

There is absolutely nothing else about this knife that is suspect. The shape, grinds, materials, paint and finish all look right

Older Benchmades had the Butterfly logo with the word Bali-song across the wings and and Benchmade USA under. For some reason I can't see the pics that you posted. Here is a pic of my Mini-AFCK

It has the Bali-song written across the butterfly. I don't actually remember when I got it, but I have had it for over ten years.

If you googe Benchmade 9050, and go to images, you will see a couple with the old school logo. Hope this helps!

It's fine. Just the older version of the logo. I have several older models that are the same.

Maybe this will help, and I can get some answers along the way too. I recently picked up two old Benchmade models, the 650 Spike and the 875 Sentinel. A friend of them got them cheap at a gun & knife show, so it made me a little skeptical of their authenticity. They have the same logo in question, so that's a plus as to the verification of "age", but I'd like to post them up just to make sure. Does anyone see anything wrong with these two knives that screams counterfeit???

Also, if anyone has a clip and screws that would be original to the Spike for sale, lemme know. Thanks for any help verifying these knives.

Your 875 Sentinel is the same as mine except I have the satin blade and new clip from when I sent it in to have it refreshed.

The logo is on point.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that is a great help!!! Hopefully the Spike is legit as well, and I've got a feeling that tracking down an original clip and screws for it is going to prove to be a challenge.

Here's a few with the old logo. I have a couple more but would have to dig them out of storage.

Original AFCK
Early model Sentinel
Proto Type Stryker.

All Early to mid 90's production.

AFCK

Stryker

Sentinel disregard oil on blade. I store them oiled.

Hope this helps!

Meant to add before,. If ever in doubt just e-mail Bencmade with your pictures and concerns and they will tell you definitively on the spot if your knife is legit.

It helps to call first. Ask for a tech in customer service and then e-mail it to them. I've done it before and had an answer within minutes.

Also, call and see if they still have any clips for the one you need. You never know and I have been pleasantly surprised before. It never hurts to ask and they will go out of their way to help you if they can

All the best.

To add on this post; the rule of 'Know Your Product' applies to these finds like the one the OP submitted. There's a look and feel to an older Benchmade that no one yet has successfully duplicated, and the one in the photo is very much the real thing - and in very good condition. Congrats on a nice trade!
