This look like a fake?

My buddy picked this up at a gun show. The guy had a story about it being one of a batch of Satin Jacks that were ordered sterile for an expedition to the center of the earth........

......but aside from that the fact that it doesn't have the pommel with lanyard hole kind of threw up a red flag for me. The spine of the handle isn't coated either. What do you guys think?

If it's a fake then it's a close one. I haven't seen fakes that looked that good, but still, none compare to the originals!

My guess is that the knife is legit, but that someone modded the handle on their own grinder.

Any time I've seen the shop mod the handle, the spine was clear of coating the entire knife. Everything else is too spot on for it to be fake, IMO.

...But I believe 360joules may be correct about the mod done outside of Busse, although you could always ask them.

Thanks guys. I passed the info on.......right after I told him that you guys sais that the only way to be sure was to try to break the blade. He winced a little at that one. Haha!

Yep, looks legit foshow, with a modded handle. Something I would do, as pointy butts are no good in reality. They might look cool, but in use ( I.e., carrying and living with it...nope) not so cool stabbing into you constantly.
