When I was a kid we used to go up and ride the trains every summer but this "Wilderness Cabin" must be new. Looks like maybe it was the quarters for the fire tower guy when there was a fire tower on Bald Knob.

Only way you can get to it is 2 hr train ride and then 3/4 mile walk. Plus the area is super isolated and woodsy.

If I go will report back

Kathy and I rode the Cass last week. We took the short ride because we got there too late for the long one. We were staying at Snowshoe on a kind of "reconnaissance vacation" - there is soooo much to do in that area. We took the telescope tour at Greenbank, drove the Highland Scenic Highway and checked out Cranberry Glades, Beartown, Droop Mountain Battlefield and the Hills Creek Falls to name a few. We plan on going back next year and spending more time when Kathy's knee and back are (hopefully) doing better. :)

I really love this state.

Why are not on the way there right now .....*L^ ... I would like to see some pics as well.
