From the back of the latest A.G. Russell catalog-Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter. 3" hollow ground drop point blade of AUS8A, 4.25" FRN handle with lockback, reversible clip and thumb stud, weighs only 2.4 oz. Pretty nice looking design for only........ $19.95.

holy $hit, for 19.95 with AUS 8 steel how can that be beat! i may just have to order one!

Doesn't it seem odd that Dozier, who is one of the best known custom makers, would "license" his name to be used on a $19.95 retail knife?

I am not passing judgement on the inexpensive knife itself, and I certainly value Bob Dozier's custom work. However it seems like an odd mix to me.

I think there are good reasons to do this:

It gets the makers name out there with more publicity.

Provides an entry level knife, and of someone like it enough, they just might buy the expensive one.

Lends credibility to the manufacturer as one who invests in the industry and innovation.

I agree with DaveH and I bet Bob's not all that well known outside of the forum and knife show crowds. I'd also like to see the same design in D2 and G10 for about 50 bucks + or -.

I ordered one of the Dozier knives and I have been eyeing the little A G Russell Woodswalker with Kydex sheath for $25. I have been looking at the Woodswalker for some time but didn't feel like ordering it until I saw the little Dozier. Now I have two coming my way. The Woodswalker should make a good neck knife or a little blade around the kitchen.
