Back before I deployed I ordered a RAT Izula and RC5 aswel as a Boker Turbine. I planned on using my izula/rc5 for backpacking, camping and stuff like that. The Boker i planed to use for EDC both in states and in Afghanistan. While on deployment I quickly realized how much I like my izula better. It sharpens up with a breeze, its strong, holds a edge and hold tight to anything i 550 it to.

My boker on the other hand will barely take any form of a sharp edge, and even when it comes close loses it within the first few uses. Yes its a amazing looking blade, and very strong but I am not impressed. Even wrote Boker to let them know my disapointment and how much I perfered the $60 RAT to the $160 Turbine.

I'm currently in Afghanistan till December. At a British base that has internet so I decided to throw some information out there before we push further out. Maybe I'll get apic or two up

I'm trying to decide on a little bigger knife now for my military use. Maybe a RC3 for uniformed carry. the rc5 is just too much knife to be running around with as far as tatical knives. However its my favorite survival knife so far

Anyway thanks guys for making a killer knife and real prices.

I was in the Corps from 80 to 84.I have a shitload of knives, but since I got my Izula a few weeks ago I've been packing it in my right front pocket every day.It is an outstanding little fixed blade, good choice! The RC 4 is soon to come, love them them Rats!

RC-3 is a great EDC blade. While it's smaller than what I would consider a camp knife, it is versatile enough that you could use it in a field setting. I think it would be the perfect uniformed EDC - would have been mine a few years ago.

I second the RC-3. It even received an NSN recently! I've been using and abusing mine for more than a year now and it's held up great! I've even gotten my coworkers to start picking up RATs! :D

Since you already have the Izula and RC-5, I'd say go with the RC-3. Perfect knife to bridge the gap between the two. Watch your ass out there.

RATs are AWESOME!

Also I wanted to personally thank you for serving and doing what you do to protect the freedoms that a lot of people take for granted. God bless you!

I am curious about this mention of NSNs on the RC3. Civilians can no longer access the site unless you have a paid 'membership' which runs into a few dollars. Can any mil personnel check on this and see who the supplier/vendor is listed for these knives? Mike

Brokensj, Thanks for your service bro!

You stay safe over there:thumbup:

I was in 80-84 also, was on the "peacekeeping" mission in Beiruit. (Charlie 1/10 24 MAU). Also own "quite a few knives. Carried a K-Bar back then, carry an Izula everywhere now. My main field knife is the BRK Bravo 1.
