My 19 yo son is thinking about making a knife and so I made him one to get that fever going. This one is 3" blade with 4" cord wrapped shark skin handle. Made from 3/16" 01 with 59-60rc.

Metal sheath with rubber coating and wrapped.

He is pleased and it contemplating what his first knife will be.

Thanks

But then again I did get expelled from school at 16 for having a knife...

Thanks Guys!

He was pretty happy with it.

Did you leave the spine 3/16" thick? I'm working with some 3/16" o1 right now and it seems really thick. Great lookin knife by the way :) I would love to learn how to do the wrapped handles like that.

Nice work!

I really like the sheath idea by the way, metal lined sheaths are awesome and the rubber coating really looks clean.

Metal, Yep it is a fatty at 3/16". I like the cord wrapped handles probably a bit to much :)

Daniel, the metal sheaths are really nice, very thing and strong and the rubber coating came out better then hoped. BTW I watch your video and your work far to much :)

Thanks for the compliments guys!

After I grind my bevels in I will see how it feels but I think I might thin out the blade a tiny bit. Is it hard to do the wrapped handles?

That is super nice. I still cant get the hang of those damn turks head knots no matter how hard i try....lol.

Very nice knife. I'm sure your son is very happy

SWEET! Great Job Adam! Definitely starting a new trend of Japanese Style knives with metal lined sheaths!

That is a good looking package - nicely done Dad!!

Thanks Guys,

He loves it.

Circle A Blades.... Can't believe you knew what about Shi...lol. That is a binder I made for entire card collection years ago.

Love to have that in 1/8th. BTW, at 19 my dad said you need to get a real job and a place of your own, sound advice for me.
