It has been over 10 years since I made a knife for myself so with hunting season coming I decided on a new one just the way I like it.
The knife is out of proportion because I like a short blade making the handle look a little too long. But it fits my hand perfectly and the black tail deer antler that I got on Kodiak Island is a real keep sake for me.
A clip on a drop point??? It tapers the point to give me the sharpness needed to make the initial cut for field dressing a large animal.
There is a lot of discussion about the proper grind for a hunting knife but I like the hollow grind because it gives the grinds nice crisp, clean lines. And after all they all cut.
The black spacer is water buffalo, not because I shot it, I just like that material. A substantial brass guard will help me keep my fingers when I am field dressing.
When I get out my leather materials a nice deep scabbard will work well with this knife.
