So i got some dough to spend on steel....
Need help from my brethren. I just got a BK11 that i really do love so i need help deciding my next knife. I'll use both for the same things. Camping, wowing friends, shaving arm hair, etc. :D

So my brothers and sisters of WS&S I present these:

Which one would get and why? Also, if you have another recommendation for around the same dinero let me know.

THanks as always

Hmmmm, tough choices! I have a Leuku coming so I will chime in after it sees some use. Beckers have a reputation for being super tough-I have a rehandled Campanion that is a brute of a mid-sized knife! Get both, you know you want to!!

I hate leuko, puuko, scandi, and all those other ugly blades. They make me :barf:

So I say Becker.:D

I used to hate the scandi grind. Then I got a Kellam. And a Helle. And another Helle. I want my Charles May, Koster Bushcraft and all of my other custom scandis back.

Go for the scandi! I miss my Beckers too, though. BK9, BK7 and BK5. Several BK5's. Oh yeah, BK10's too.

I have the Jarvenpaa Leuku. It's the one I wrote up about batoning through seasoned birch, and then just a light drop had it slice through my leather glove and then my finger almost to the bone with almost no effort.

The two knifes you listed are very different. The leuku isn't much of a chopper. It can do light machete work, but it's really a superb slicer.

The BK-7 would be the exact opposite.

Considering you have the BK-11, I'd say give the leuku a try.

If you don't yet have too many knives, then it might be a good idea to go for the Leuku. Just to try something different. There are a lot of differences here - scandi grind, 7" length, wooden handle etc. Try it out. The BK7 is a great knife but as mentioned above it will perform and be used for very different tasks compared to the leuku. The Lueku will probably be the sharper of the two, at least as it comes from the company. After that I would look for a full convex knife like the Black jack Grunt.

THanks guys. Yes Cpl I remember your write up. I like those knives and am trying to shy from "tactical" but man...that BK11 is the cat's ass... But...the leuku is winning the race so i may just have to get that one. Wonder if ragnar has it cheaper...off to check. :D

I think i should add some of the others i own.

Schrade Old Timer Deerslayer
Buck 119 (beat to hell but still a workhorse)
Buck vanguard
a couple of "Rambo knives" from yesteryear
United double edge dagger (leather washer handles :barf: )
bunch of others....

nothing super fancy, but all get the job done. just started back up this year so i am hoping to acquire quite a few more (nice) knives.

If you don't have anything with a scandi grind you will be pleasantly surprised at how well the Leuku cuts.
