What is the lightest alloy that can be had. By had, I mean purchased fairly easily. No NASA stuff that I have to buy on the black market please.

I'm thinking Ti, but I'm still stuck in the 5160 age. :D

It does not have to be overly hard....mid 40's will work.

When I was in school one of the professors picked up a shipment of bars and carried them to the lab. These were 1" dia ,at least 8' long and he must have had at least a dozen bars which he carried with one hand ! The looks and comments of those who saw him were great ,like "my God he's strong ". Superman ? No , he was just carrying bars made of the lightest commercial alloy, a lithium/magnesium alloy !....Other than that you're stuck with Titanium .

Thanks Mete. I'm trying to get over the 1200FPS mark in the air cane. I'll do a search and see where I can find them. :)
