So, up until a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't hanging out on the forums very much. This was because of my job. I'm a Steamfitter by trade, and about 5 years ago went from working in the field, to a nice office position doing drafting and coordination. Well, things got slow in the office, and instead of laying me off, they sent me back to the field to work. While working with my tools again I was really limited on free time, so I wasn't spending much time online. What I did do was pick a knife to use at work, and it stayed in my pocket everyday. It really became a tool, and not part of my hobby. To be honest, during this period, I didn't really think about other knives, because this one was perfect for my needs. Well, fast forward a few month, work picks up, and I get sent back to the office. With my new found free time, I decide to check out the forums and see what's been going on. Well, guess what...... I'm back to spending a few minutes each evening deciding what "the knife of the day" will be the next day at work. Thanks a lot guys.

Evil? Not so sure (I know you jest!).

Enabling, without question!

When I landed here through a Google search back in January I had a half dozen or so various size Victorinox knives, my grandfather's Schrade Walden, an old Colonial barlow I bought as a kid, and a Böker USA Tree Brand stockman I carried in a tool belt while working construction back in the mid-late 1980s.

Wow, has that count ever changed in just six months!

I have learned so much, it is almost impossible to quantify, and I have picked up some really nice old pocket knives (and a couple not so old ones).

A dangerous place maybe, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I agree, this place is almost as evil as chrome. I am waking up at night with visions of the next folder I want to make, all because of reading and looking at photos here.

Mission accomplished!

I didn't get a computer until 2007. While learning to use computer/internet etc. i stumbled upon BladeForums. Having been interested in knives since childhood, i.e. 50 and more years ago, i thought i'd join so i could learn how to make a post. I'm still here, know a moderate amount about knives, can post pictures, and have made about 6000 posts. Which is interesting because my knife collection has grown by about the same amount, from around 50 to over 6500.
Darn it. Self will run riot again.

I've been trying to use my time viewing the Traditional forum as a way to satisfy my appetite for knives by enjoying looking at other peoples knives thereby alleviating the need to acquire more.....

This forum is must-read for me, every day...A great place to learn, visit, and see that next knife I'm going to pursue next.

Unfortunately (bows head in shame), its a knife I'm not allowed to talk about in these parts. I tried a traditional, but the convenience of a modern knife won it a place in my pocket.

Did you read my mind?

I think they should change the name to: Traditional Folders and Fixed Blades Sales Forum. :D

I actually went four weeks without buying a knife before I fell off the wagon last Monday.

Oh well, it's time to catch up now!!
