But don't worry it's less than a dollar !
At least once a week I like to take my dogs on a tough hike so today that's what we did !
I'm pretty sure not many people use this trail.....what do ya mean ya can't see the trail !
On the climb up I came across this, who would have thought a cobweb would hold water !!!
Maisy does pretty good to get up here like she does, I keep forgetting she's getting on in years !
Snicker strikes a pose at the top....
Way back when I worked at a coal mine I used to carry a P38 can opener on my work keys, I did this with the purpose of opening my tinned lunch items in mind but found it did far more than that !
Before long I was using it as a make shift screwdriver, undoing knotted boot laces, opening packets of welding rods etc, prying paint tin lids, cleaning out the threads on old bolts, cleaning under my nails the list goes on. However when I left the mine I left behind my work keys and also my beloved P38. After reading a recent article on them in Backwoodsman Magazine I decided to get myself one again (two in fact), as soon as I got home with them I tried them as a ferro rod striker and low and behold they throw a spark better than anything else I've tried !
I figured I'd get a fire going today using my new P38 and take some pics for ya....
Made some Fatwood curls with my Knatchet and added some fluffed up Jute from my Talfuchre fire kit....
Two strikes with the P38 and we have fire....
I placed the P38 back in it's new home my Talfuchre fire kit.....
I also managed to split off a nice bit of fatwood with my Knatchet to take home....
So if ya don't already have one, dig around in the back of ya sofa for a Dollar and treat yourself to a P38 then tell me what other uses you find for it !
Ps. It's my birthday on the 19th May so maybe I'll treat myself to a P51 !
