We must hunt down this Matthew Daniells and kill him... just kidding.

181 hits.. not bad for 2 days.

I saw that a while ago, most of his hits are from people who were told it was a copy, i was gonna post something in his guestbook, and was gonna email him, but of course, NONE of the links work, so we cant yell at him
mad.gif
all his site has is the first page of info about the bali.

I just sent an Email to homestead informing them one of their users has broken the sopyright laws...hopefully the fake will be shut down.

pedder, calm down. I think the guy got permission first.. at least that's what it says on the bottom of the page.

It would surprise me if Jeff Imada gave him premission to use his video clips without any acknowledgement.

Very little on the site seems to work. What I can see is just copied from other sources.
All I can say is "lame."

This is rather a bad time to bring this up for me.

Right now, I'm uploading the latest edition to The Main Exhibits Gallery on my site (it seems to be being a bit troublesome tonight.)

Anyway, it's only one balisong, six pictures, a few paragraphs of text. But, between taking the pictures, developing the pictures, scanning the pictures, editting the pictures, writting the text, pulling it all together and linking it into the site, checking it, uploading it, etc., it's probably taken me ten or twelve hours. While I'm happy to share this with you, I am possessive of it. I'm happy to have you look at it, but don't just rip it off and put it onto your own page. If you want to put together a nice website, you should do what Clay does, what Susan does, what I do, what Guileume does, what so many of the other fine web authors here do: put in the work and create original material. Why make a website if you're not going to contribute something new?

I wasn't going to say anything, but I think I will: If you look at the "sponsors" page on this site, it says, "Matt's Tae Kwon Do site and Balisong Knife page..." You'd think that if anyone would, someone who has studied a martial art would understand the importance of getting out on the floor and actually doing something yourself, putting in the hardwork and sweat yourself.

Clay's site is very well-done and a wealth of original information. Sniperboy is an extraordinary graphic artist, designer, and webmaster. My site is very simply constructed, but I built it and I'm proud of it.

By the way, all hit-counters are not created equal. Some just count how many times a page has been requested. If one person requests that page ten times, that counts as ten hits. I one person follows a linkfrom the main page and then goes back to the main page, that's two hits. I don't have a hit-counter on my page because I really don't care. But, I do get a report from my hosting service every two weeks. I average about 1400 unique IP address hits per day. Amazing.

Anyway, I don't want to discourage this guy from adding another balisong-related website to the net, but I just hope he'll make an original contribution.

I very much conur with GOllnick (thank you for the praises itmeans a lot to me sir) but not so long ago I prided myself with having a sprawling anime web page (again forgive the self elevation but I am pissed!!!) one of the very first on the net about shonen anime and such. I always welcomed healthy competition and it was one of the things that made me try harder and persevere in thigns I enjoy. and I think what pushed me to improve my graphic design learning and html'ing (being a frustrated engineer helped too)

back when my computer sucked ass.. (well it still does) I spent an hour cutting and pasting pictures of scanned posters (parrt by part then stitched together in PS. I was happy and for once proud.. but all it took a punk was to rip off the image and text I put in seconds.

I always try to give credit to people I 'steal' images of when it is not obvious. Hell if I put as image of the mona lisa on my front page I am not fooling anyone, I just think it is so unethical to do **** like this.

as you can tell this is rather personal for me.. so I should shut up now.

This is one of the rare times I slap at 'feigning ignorance' if it is indeed the case.

At this time, I would like to apologize for retracting the idea of killing this Matthew fellow. I understand the frustration of web builders who see their work ripped off by others. When's that meeting again, Sniper?

Although what Matt did was wrong, I don't think you guys should be making personal threats even if you really have no intention on carry out your actions on him, especially on a public forum.

Dave, I respect your caring, but we are only joking. No one is making any serious threats, nor is anyone planning to hurt "Matthew." Have a sense of humor.

Yeah, I realized that before I posted that reply. Even though we all know you are joking, Matt may take the comment more seriously.

Talking on websites, specially balis, I 200% agree with Chuck:

Clay is unique and provides lots of info in a well structured manner

Chuck's is simple but lots of beautiful balis in it

Susan's is really personalized and I enjoy the language style very much.

Four thumbs up to all of masters above (I have to do it sitting down though)

It really hurts to have your sweat and blood (anyone bled during the web building?)
biggrin.gif
to have it stolen by someone cheap.

But, . . . I hope the guy did not stop his effort putting up a bali web, but improve his skill and effort to make his own.

Merry Xmas to all and have a full bali New Year.

Thank very much. You are to kind.

To answer your question, yes, I have bled over the website (it seems that, for me, just about every project eventually draws blood). In the case of the website, the cut came while cutting negatives into six-frame strips to go into my film scanner. My Minolta Dimage film scanner is the secret to the pictures on my site. But, the film does have to be cut into strips and, in that process, I did once cut myself. It was, as I recall, a Benchmade AFCK that inflicted that minor cut. The annoying thing is that, when handling film, one must wear white cotton gloves to avoid scratching the film or leaving finger prints. So, I not only cut myself, which is no big deal (if you can't stand the occational minor cut, then balisongs are not a good hobby for you), but I ruined my glove.

Well... looks like he updated! All of the links work now. I sent him an email suggesting he take the site down. You guys should do that too.
