I almost wonder if it is a training exercise...
Seems like the stick was either some sort of entry/diversionary device, or it corresponded perfectly with the detonation of something inside the bus. Either way, bananas.
 
Obviously a training exercise. Looks like the "stick" was a "bomb on a stick" and it blew the side of the bus off.

Yeah its an exhibition or training not sure. But after that explosion, I thought it was hilarious when they said the hostages are safe.
 
Blew the side of the bus AND the guy deploying it to smithereens. Wow!

Looks like training, but that's a WHOOPS for sure. Just like the SWAT sniper 4-5 years ago down the road a piece from me that during a break in training looked thru his scope at his boss and accidentally pulled the trigger on a live round. WTF?
 
I can't believe that guy wasn't killed outright. If you watch the video carefully, you can see him go flying, then do a sweet Hollywood back-roll, and pop up with a shotgun leveled. I'd be amazed if he didn't have some sort of internal injuries from that. Lung problems from the overpressure, at the very least.
 
Holy crazy!!

I wonder if they draw straws to be the stick swinger or if it's one of those "new guy" duties.

WHOA! The question is.... does it suck worse to be the stick swinger or the fellow with the nice window seat thinking 'what is that guy running next to me going to do with that stick?'
 
If you're rolling on a school bus with a BTR-80, armed with an automatic 14.5mm cannon (at the minimum), do you really NEED a guy with a bomb on a stick to finish the job? Just put a couple rounds through the engine block, a couple through the driver, and you're done.

Well I just think its a Russian version of a "Flash-Bang" grenade, it is done to slightly disorientate the intended target.
 
I'd love to see the explosion in slo-mo. I'm not sure the guy that comes up with the shotgun is hte same guy that blows the bus. But then again, the guy that falls OUT of the gaping hole gets up and walks away RELATIVELY unharmed less than a minute later.
 
Very strange way to rescue hostages. :eek: I bet at least some of them would be injured. The situation in Bieslan, that happened 6 years ago comes to my mind when I see this. Russina special forces attacked a school then, where terrorists held hostage hundreds of children. Many terrorists were killed, but many too many childen died during the attack. :(

yeah thats what I found the most ironic in this scenario, its funny because its practice or exhibition, now if god forbid anybody was captured on the bus well all I can say it anytime I ever take the bus I'm going to skip the window sit.

Also, another weird thing is, these guys are real pros at storming buses, I mean in like 20 seconds they can get in and throw every single person out of the bus. and they can do that without armored transport or explosives.

And Beslan well that was just horrible.
 
I thought the "stick man" blow himself up, but I watched it again and saw him get up and back away off camera, to change his underwear.
