They've been teasing all week with reminders to watch for it. Pictures of various folders. Wonder what they'll pick?
:)

Grooooaaaannnnnnn............. ? Grooooaaaannnnnnn............. ? I thought it was a pretty clever remark!

Considering it's a California newspaper, I might have suggested the article would be on a butter knife. All right, perhaps they will profile the Stinger.

A butter knife?
Isn't California one of the places where some autos (albeit small ones) are even legal?

I bet kitchen and tool knives(Swiss Army, Leatherman, etc....) make up the bulk. Definatly nothing too tactical.

Not what the pictures in the teaser show. Various mid range folders it looks like. Sposed to be an article on what you need in the woods.

Bear in mind that it wasn't too long ago that a woman got killt by a cougar on a hike trail.

That or they sent reporters undervcover into public places carrying concealed knives, then interviewed people about it.

"Excuse me, ma'am, I just wanted to ask how you felt about the fact that I was able to carry this 12" assault knife into this supermarket . . and that it's completely legal to do so. Do you think that just anybody off the street should be able to do this?"

Hmm, I'm in Sacramento on business this week. Maybe I will have to pick up a paper tomorrow morning. Now if only I had the time to find a really good knife store.:o

The Sacramento BEE? Undoubtedly a feature story on the Laguiole. :p

Yeah, that is a groaner. Guess I might have to pick a copy up.

Good pieces, actually. "In case we've forgotten over the past five months, the rules of engaging the outdoors still apply: Don't go alone, bring food and water, and - as always - take a sturdy hiking stick and a good knife."

 A nice intro to knives. They covered production stuff, custom-making and collecting. I'll bet a few extra knives will be sold around Sacramento this weekend.

VERY nice. Each of the three articles had a different emphasis. The paper is well organized and easy to navigate. I went through the regular registration process because I have found myself linked to other SacBee articles from time to time.

The writer, Allen O. Pierleoni apierleoni@sacbee.com , and the Sacramento Bee itself definitely deserve a letter of thanks.

I hope you all used Esav's link to thank the author of the piece. He was appreciative of my thank you and stuff like this only helps the "cause."

The Bee is notoriously anti-gun and this was a surprising piece. The editor should see how well it is received.

:)

Man, I can't believe I missed that!!! And right in my hometown! Well, maybe someone will open up a decent knife shop here in town now after this (doubtfull, but I can dream).
