Hey y'allll, I recently stripped my RC3, then found a dremel tool, tried to polish it up to a super shine, it didn't polish the way I wanted it to.... so I forced the patina again? I think thats what I did. also. this is my first time stripping ans stuff like that, so if I am wrong in doing any of this, let me know. hahah
First off I started with vinegar, soaked it in it for a while. then washed it off, then did it again with drips.

then...mustard... You know the liquid that comes out of the mustard thing when it has been sitting a while? well I used that to drip on it. a couple times.

then I did another one with lemon juice, same thing.
hope you guys like it... I sure as hell do.
who knows, it may be removed after a little use, but... for now its sexual.:jerkit:

first time posting pictures, and it took me about a frickin hour to post them! :barf:

That looks nice!!!

A lot of people who make their own knives do things like this. I'm sure that you guys can find tons of other picture examples on either the knife tinkering forum or knifemakers forum. Lots of people talk about creating an artificial patina on their knives to help prevent rust and give it a type of customization.

Good job!

Very nice job! I'm soon to be doing this to one of my 3's as the coating is mostly worn from use!

Here is a patina I did to my BK7.

Its really light and almost looks like Damascus steel

A BK9 that I put a mustard patina on, tiger stripe.

Damn I love that picture of the BK9, everytime I see it I kind of get excited.....

Looks like a lava lamp for the 60's. Not that I am a fan of them but it does look pretty cool. Nice job.

Cool patina, you can get a lot of different effects with mustard by how you apply it and how many repetitions.

Patina looks good !
Okay to save yourself some Grief , b/c you removed the coating under the scales the knife will rust under the scales from hand sweat ,washing the knife ,rain ,etc.
So now pull off the scales and go buy some clear coat krylon to protect the exposed metal under the scales.
