I just wanted to make a quick post of the knives I got from Ka-bar this week. A New BK7, a BK10, a ZK5701 and ZK 5702.

The BK7 is a great knife. Just gave mine to a friend going to Iraq and had to get me a replacement. Everyone should have a BK7. Probably my favorite fixed blade knife of all time. Not a fan of the factoy sheath but it gives me a good excuse to get some nice custom Kydex.

The BK10 is BEAUTIFUL. Love the look and feel. This one came with Micarta but Im not sure if I will use them or not. I may actually just make this knife my safe queen.

The ZK5701 'Sword' was a very nice surprise. This thing seem very well balanced, has a nice thick blade, and the sheath is by far the best factory sheath from ka-bar. Not a huge fan on the lime green stuff but it comes with black scales as well so I immediately switched them out. The extra knife include seems like it would be a handy compact knife. This is an amazing buy to me at around $50. I still want to replace the neon cord on the sheath but that shouldnt be too difficult.

The zk5701 'machete' was also a nice surprise. It sure looks like it would be a serious chopper. Once again an amazing sheath for a $50 knife. Also includes the small knife. Both knife slots have the plastic lining on them. fit is very solid.

Any of the Ka-Bar Becker line is a hit. Great knives, always have been, always will be. The new Ka-bar ZK line seems to be marketed well with the zombie crowd but I see these as also being practical user knives. The price for the knife is a heck of a deal at $50 or so! The grips on the ZK line seem to be comfortable and multi-purpose. You can adjust your grip for different uses very well with these. I like Ka-bars reference to the WWII blades of old. I do wish they didnt have the giant "TAIWAN" on the blade. Can't ya put it under the grip or something? ;).

Thats all I have. Not a real review, just a quick observation. Once again, great knifes from KA-BAR!

Thanks for the photos, and the first impressions.

I'll be honest, I didn't ever think that I would be interested in the ZK line, mostly because of the lime handles. I knew that they came with the black ones, but had never seen them on the knife. Also, I had no idea it came with the small blade as well. I wonder if they will keep that up. I mean, the BK9 used to ship with the Remora, but that was stopped for some reason.

Anyway, thanks again.

I thought Ka-bar didn't make the BK-10, I thought that was a Camillus thing, if Ka-bar does, I want one!
KA-BAR bought up some left over blanks from Camillus, did their own grinds, heat treat, etc. There were only 180 made. If you're lucky, there might be some left. Give KA-BAR a call and ask. $150 plus shipping. Good luck. I have one, sweet freakin' blade.

It looks like everything I have wanted in a blade, all that is missing is a kydex sheath! I am going to buy one...

So, after seeing these here again I started looking into them a bit more seriously. I found I might have a use for a large camp knife (primarily for batoning), and both of the ZK knives you bought seem to be pretty amazing deals. The only question I have is which one is better for my intended use.

Have you gotten to use either of these yet? If so, what do each of them excel at, and if you were going to purchase only one, which one would you buy? I would love to get both, as well as lots of other knives, but funds are short right now, so I could only get one, and since these are both pretty new, its hard to find any real reviews on them.

Thanks for the help, and the photos :).

if you search in the Becker forum, for BK10, you'll find some interesting fodder.

it's a great special that KaBar did for us. get one while it lasts.
