Ok, well by "succored the lame" I actually mean I used it to carve walking sticks, and by "babysat children" I mean I used it to make a seat for a swing.
Let me explain.
First off, I went camping up on the Mogollon Rim. Here's the view:
Now, it's worth noting that the Rim area once it starts getting summer hot in Phoenix becomes crowded as all hell. Everyone wants to get up to 7350' to enjoy the breeze, fish in Woods Canyon Lake, and raise hell at night. In fact, it's not so much camping as it is a block party/backyard barbecue in the pines. Times 200. But that's cool; as long as you know what you're getting into, it's good times.
I've already had some good outdoorsy me-time recently, so I was ready for the opposite. My wife 'n kid are out of town but my friends brought theirs, and I'm like the pied piper for kids, so them and "Uncle Creepy" spent all kinds of quality time together.
First things first, kids: come look at my knives. You can hold 'em but don't tell your dad I let you.
True Confession Time: It wasn't my BK2 that rode my hip all weekend, it was that nessmuk there made by M. Wohlwend from these here forums. All I can say in my defense was that this was the first non-factory knife I've ever bought, it showed up as I was driving away from my house, and holy moly is it ever sweet (info and pics here if you're interested).
HOWEVER, it got a tiny edge roll after chopping into the first 2" dry stick so I immediately switched to the BK2 for all the wood work. Karma for a cheatin' heart?
Yeah, I know, I'm an idiot who used a rock as a backstop. Of course I hit the f***ing thing several times. Lessons learned.
The kids got all excited watching me work on my sticks, forced their Dad to take them out into the forest (I was beer-comfy and no longer inclined to move much at this point), and they all came back with branches of their own. Bk2 made a bunch of little critters real happy this weekend.
Then I got the hair-brained idea to make them a swing. Might have been because I was just looking for an excuse to blast away at some lumber; sounds like something I'd do.

Bonus photo: home sweet home. Tents or campers are a crime with weather like we had.
Thanks for reading.
