This will break your heart

Blades can be had. Might just be the opportunity to see what kind of repair work Colonial will do for $20! A knife that has lived a useful life is not a sad thing by any means. A knife is first and foremost, a tool. Tools are meant to be used (used correctly). And there are many good parts on that one. I have a few knives with the scales dang near beaten off. The 15OT was not meant to be a hammer. But it will live on with Gabon Ebony scales and mosaic pins. Nor was the Sharpfinger meant to be a screwdiver. I have one that is 1/2" short. After I did some work, a person not familiar with it would see nothing askew with it's abbreviated appearance. It gets some Vavona burl redwood scales.

If the tang stamp says Walden, it might be worth more (value and sentimental) with the broken blade.

True they were only made for 45 years. And only 13 of those years with a Walden tangstamp. Not really a "rare" knife, but it could still be rehabbed with a Walden blade. I bet LT would tell you that they do exist.

Yes, as a matter of fact, a venerable 897UH graces my pocket daily. Even when I am out and about with a half pound foot long real Schrade Knife strapped on my hip. Somehow the Woodsman and Deerslayer just don't go well with my whine and cheese snacks! And I do have a few ffffff....folders...collapsing ...convertable....drop top....slippies in my display cabinet. Including Colonial's newest version of the 897UH. :p
