This year I sit at the Strider kid's table...

It is a rare occasion when I get to buy a knife. The university here takes nearly all of my money, and as some of you may recall, I got engaged this year too. Read that as knife money got turned into diamond money. For a year and a half, I have wanted a full-size Buck/Strider tanto. My SAK takes care of my fine cutting chores, and I've been carrying Benchmade folders for the harder-use chores. The Buck/Strider would obviously be a much better hard-use folder than my Benchmades!

Fortunately, I have a lovely fiancee and forumite RDT had a wonderful deal. It is my birthday on Jan. 24th, and RDT had a Buck/Strider that he customized and was offering for a great price. I was telling my fiancee about the deal, and she said she'd give me some money to put towards that knife for my birthday. WOHOO!! And a deal was made.

It isn't a custom Strider. I want a custom, and maybe if I am good, I can get one for when I get my Masters degree this summer. But what I am getting is my first Buck knife. A knife designed by Mick and Duane, with Paul Bos' name on it as well. Manufacturing company with years and years of experience + Design and support by Mick and Duane + Paul Bos heat treat = a can of whoop ass! I cannot wait to get that knife for my birthday. Though it isn't a custom, I feel as though I'll have the honour of sitting at the Strider Kid's Table this year, as Mick and Duane pass around the Strider turkey. One day I hope to grow up and get a fe gen-u-ine Striders. For now, I'll do my pushups and eat my veggies and play with my B/S until I grow up!


P.S., does SOE make a nylon sheath for this knife? What other sheath options are there? THANKS!

the B/S folders have all the toughness of the big boys, but nothing is quite like the real deal.
personally id say the B/S is 2/3 as nice as the AR/GB for 1/3 the price!

as far as sheaths, SOE does make a sheath for these, their sheaths are some of the toughest and best engineered ones ive seen.

if your into leather i suggest you contact our fellow forum member lifter, hes been making some SWEEET ass sheaths for SnGs and im sure he could whip you up somethin.

YOU WILL LOVE that Buck/Strider! I have both the 880 Tanto and the 880Sp Spear Point. I have to tell you one or the other are carried with me daily.

I have a Strider GB but the Bucks see more of the rough stuff daily.

I purchased the SOE sheath and it fits the Buck/Strider perfect. Its a very well made sheath.

I think the Buck.Striders are easier to sharpen than my S30V GB, I also get less of a gasp when I pull them out to use at work, but for full on hand made KICK ASS warranty and service a true custom STRIDER GB or AR is the BALLS!

My fiancee got me an Inova X5T with green LEDs for Christmas, so I can't wait to pair that up with my Buck Strider for EDC. I think I'll have to send SOE an e-mail then about a sheath. Or is there a better place to get the sheaths from?
