Thomas: Any new Kershaws on the Horizon?

I wasn't aware Kershaw or ZT made a Stretch. ;)

Are you thinking of Spyderco?

There are new items on the horizon, I just can't talk about them. Peeps lose there temper when I do a show and tell without there being a reward in their near future.

Aren't the new products from 2011 still waiting for release? I'm still wanting to check out the Echelon and the Knockout, then there's the Cryo as well. I think Thomas' plan about not releasing new product info is definitely for the best.

Don't be a dodo, I think Kershaw makes a Skyline fixed blade with orange G-10 grips, and/or maybe a folder too.

Its too bad the internet can't be trusted with upcoming product secrets, someone might try and copy Kershaw's hard work before a patent is secured.

Like with everything else, we will just have to wait until the new cool stuff hits the streets to find out.

Echelon, Pistons, and Knockouts have all shipped. All 2011 items have shipped except for the 0777. The Cryo debut at SHOT in January. There are still a handful of new products from the 2012 catalog that have yet to be released. Most will be coming soon.

The Blade Show will bring out a small crop of new items. Yes I know them all, no I can't say, as it makes folks all kind of po'd I guess. Oh then there are those pesky leech's of the industry.

I'm unsure what the best is on the forum anymore.

That's good to hear. I'll have to be on the lookout for an Echelon. Thanks for the heads up Thomas! Btw, excellent job on the 0560. Lightyears ahead of the competition IMO. I look forward to the tiger striped versions coming soon-ish.

EDIT: Where did these knives ship to? Can't find them anywhere.

Thomas,

I think your new more conservative approach on new releases is better. Just look at the PO'd guy on the Cryo thread about his preorder. The product debuted at SHOT is not available yet to the distributors but they are taking pre-orders. I for one am happy to have my preorder sitting out there at KnifeCenter. They won't charge my card till it ships and for the price of zero dollars I get to be one of the first to get one when they do ship. What does the guy think the "Pre" in Pre-order means anyway.

Keep up the good work I think you are releasing about the right amount of information. Really long lead times as you mention allow designs to be poached and there is no need to expose your fine companys hard work too early in the process.

The 3/4 ton is a overseas made knife, so I think it will be out in a while like with the Cryo, in the "most will be coming soon" category.

I am really looking forward to the Knockout, seems like the precursor or distant relative of the 0777. I wonder if it will be aluminum or G-10 grips?
(Can someone tell me scientifically which of the same volume weights more and by how much, aluminum or G-10?)

First time poster here. Lurked for a while.

Any news on the 3/4 ton?

Last I heard was that it isn't going to be made. They pulled the 3/4 ton, the Diskin folder and one other if I remember right.

The guy knows what it means. However, when he is told they will ship on a certain date ,two weeks ago, by a certain knife shop owner and they have not even left the factory overseas yet....

I've been keeping an eye out for the Echelon because I think one person here posted that they had one.

I definitely like that you are keeping things closer to the vest. I don't think anyone realized that a TS 0350 was coming out and then one day, boom people had them in stock. It was really cool. Too be completely honest, I had just bought a 0350 two weeks prior to people getting the Tiger Stripe in stock so I was a little bent about not knowing but in the end, it's no sweat off my back. I love my 0350 and I love not having to worry about mucking up the TS finish.

Too much lead time can make people pissy. There is a thread in the Spyderco forum about one of the Sprint Run PM2s. The guy had been waiting over 6 months to get his in and I went onto a website (not the one he preodered from) and they had plenty in stock ready to ship.

I know people on forums come off as negative nelly cry babies but unfortunately the entire internet has a negative bias. I think the sheer amount of positive words said on here about Kershaw speaks volumes and volumes to how good of a company you work for Thomas. You figure 2% of the knives might have issues but if all 100% of them complain on here and only 10% of the people with perfect knives complement you then clearly it would be skewed. I've roamed the other manufacturer forums on here and I don't think any other them come close to having as much manufacturer involvement as KAI does. I also think the amount of negativity in the other manufacturer forums is much greater than in here.

You guys make an excellent product, but the economy is still a little rough so when people shell out a chunk of change for a knife (especially one they've been coveting for a year) they want it to be perfect. At least most people here know how awesome your customer service and they will be taken care of but I think the most disappointment comes from having to give up something people have to really save up for and play the waiting game all over again while it gets fixed. Problems with your new $30-45 knife, no biggie. Problem with your new knife that costs as much as an Xbox/PS3/small HDTV and then people get upset.

I saw a Knockout with some little issues on feebay, there was and a thread here about the same exact knife, too. This was at least a month ago, I'm wondering if it was a pre production or prototype or something, it was G-10 so it couldn't be that old, I think the original design was aluminum.

Man Thomas what can we do to win you back? It seems lately the forum has been taking a toll on you. And I dont want to see this place go the way of the dodo like it did a few years back. I know there has been some negativity and I think that will happen as long as this is a public forum. But you gotta look on the bright side of things. You have got a "Sh!@#$ Ton" of positive feedback on your products and your company has developed a following that is quite impressive now. KAI has come a long way since the introduction of the military boot knife. Dont let the haters get you down man. Whether you know it or believe it you have friends here.

Well I hope to have a new moderator up soon. My work schedule is stacked, and at least for me today, have little time for negativity. I appreciate the relationships I have here, and feel it's a nice platform for the brands. Not too sure about if its for me anymore. We'll see, thanks for the encouragement.

Did I mention the Blade items will be smokin?

I have my room and tickets ready for Blade. Looking forward to it. Hopefully will see you there Thomas if you are going to be around.
