Thomason Knife

Hello. I am old (69), but brand new to Bladeforums. I recenty acquired a Thomason knife that is has the name "Thomason" in script and the date of 1977 on the tang. On the flip side of the tang is an outline of Alabama with the initials VKC and the number 5 inside the state outline. I read a post from 2002 where a person had a similar knife (or maybe the same one) and indicated it was made by Bill Thomason in Dalton. GA. There didn't seem to be any real certainty what the VKC or the 5 may represent. I'd attach a pic, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Does anyone know any history on Bill Thomason or possibly anything about the VKC markings? I am mostly just curious. Thanks!!
