Thong Hole tubing wall thickness

I need to find non stainless tubing for a thong hole. What is the wall thickness I need? The reason I need non stainless is because the customer wants it etched to be a matt gray. Will stainless etch? I ave that in stock.

Stainless will etch, but probably not color as you'd like.
Hmmm, plain old low to high carbon steel tubing...
How about some rigid steel fuel or brake line tubing?
That would be easy to come by.
I don't think it's stainless, but I could be wrong.
Thickness? However thin you want.
Just ream it out, polish it and etch it.

Wouldn't sand blasting the stainless give somewhat the same effect?

Stainless will definately etch. It takes longer and has a tendancy not to etch as deeply.

Suggestion.......Cut you off about a 1/4" piece of stainless thong hole tubing and drop it off in some FC. That way you can see if it produces the results you are looking for.

Robert...I was just being lazy and thought I'd ask :p before just working 5 min in the shop..he he.

I will counter sink the thong hole tubing in the handle after shaping so just bead blasting that tubing wont work. Plus I dont have a bead blaster

Put some of IG's relish on it and it will etch....I think it will etch glass.

Brake line should work fine or you can custom make one by drilling a square block of carbon steel, use a bolt and nut to attach it to a drill and grind it to size and round.

I've got lots of ways to make extra work for myself. :footinmou

i saw a small sand blasting unit for sandblast etching glass at Michaels for around $35, came with the can of compressed air and sand and everything.

I may try etching the stainless and see if I can blue it a little. Might work?
