I just bought some stainless steel tube (diameter 6 millimeters) to use as thong hole liners. I'm thinking of epoxying them into place but want to now if there are better methods for fixing the tube. Any tips?

If the material is at all fragile i just glue in the tube. I use Loctite Speedbonder and Activator.
If the material is tough like Micarta or carbon fiber I will glue the tube and while it's curing, I swage the ends just a little to make it REALY secure!
After the handle is finished, I counter sink the hole then I run a small wire wheel through the inside to polish it.

I am almost done making my second knife and I learned something very important. Be VERY CAREFUL if you smack thong tubes with a hammer to pein them. I hit mine one too many times and cracked the dymondwood handle!!! Boy was I upset, but I learned a great lesson (actually, I learned many on that knife). Go easy if you pull out a hammer!

Crayola, instead of trying to peen the thong hole liner, take a tapered piece of steel, like a punch or nailset and put it in the liner and tap it a few times to flare the ends.

dont want ot start a fight with neil...but i always just superglue the buggers in...have been doing it for years with no complaints.. i use .250 stainless and drill .257 holes (F drill)....when i glue the handles i drill a small (whatever size the pins are) hole in the center of the thong hole thru one side of the scales...then go back after i grind everything flat when the epoxy is dry and drill a one eight and then a f hole...cut tube to length...supergllue...the thin kind so it gets way down there......i also drill my handle tang hole very large....usually 3/8 so i wont have any problems....cracked many a handle trying to do it by drilling two seperate holes in the handles from both sides.....one hole...straight....

You can spin the tube to flare it. Make a tapered punch like spinner harden it full . Draw it back at about 300 degrees. Then put you tube in and spin the edges to flare then ... Just a little at a time not to get to hot. This leaves a nice finish..
