Hi - new forum member here, I found this board searching for stuff about a SOG Twitch II I just got to replace a CRKT Apache II (which I got 9 years ago) I thought I had lost.
I purchased a S40V Blur maybe half a year ago primarily for outdoorsing - it's a great knife (except that the spring's a little weak; it makes it a little dangerous to open) but the abrasive material adhered to the insets in the scales it far too abrasive - it provides amazing grip, but it's really rough on whatever clothing the knife is clipped onto. Aside from the damage to clothing, I find that it's actually difficult to get it clipped in the first place.
Has anyone had success wearing away some of the abrasiveness?
I've considered using wood, various bits of metal, and glass but I'm concerned that these materials will either leave residues or exacerbate the situation by just wearing away the coating material and exposing the grit. I've also considered painting the sandpaper-like material with clear nail polish, but I suspect that will wear away pretty quicky/completely wax the "grippiness" of the material.
