I've been having a ball ordering old Gun Digests off of eBay. GREAT books. Not like today's which have a jillion articles on plastic guns and self defense carry tactics. Just a bunch of real steel guns and articles on target shooting, engraving, hunting, etc.

But the KNIFE section was a blast. They were discussing Ruanas and Randalls and Morans and warning of the costs like $10 for a Ruana and those silly Randalls were way up in the $25 range but that Randall didn't need the money cuz he had all those orange groves and paper mills.

A real hoot. Them was the days.

Yeh, but $10-$25 was a serious piece of change back in the '50s and '60s.

In 20 or so years, you'll be saying things like: Man, I remember when we could get good Benchmades for a $100.

I used to get old gun magazines at a used book store. The ones that got me were WWII surplus items like deactivated Sten guns for $12.95. Or for something like $70.00 you could by a small mortar. The mortars were sold "without sights to be more sporting". Back then I bought my first laminated Mora knife for $2.00.
